Marlasmom: how many do you have? I thought about bringing a cutting home from Hawaii but I didn't think I could get it to bloom here. What's the point if it doesnt flower, right?

Wow, those are reasonable prices.

Must resist right now, though. I need to see if I have any success with the one I potted earlier. :D

Any idea what he charges for shipping?

I think he charges $5 for shipping priority mail. If your temperature drops below say 45, you bring them in for the winter in a basement, garage or closet. They will go dormant and spring to life when they get sun and heat.

Marlasmom, thank you so much for the list! We made the mistake of purchasing two at Epcot. My dh and mom love to garden but they are very upset with these. After reading your post I realize now we should not have bought them there. I would love to buy one for each of them for Mother's Day and Father's Day to surprise them. Since they are already rooted do you think they will have any problems with them? Any special tips? Where should they be planted? In big pots? Where should they be kept? Sorry for all the questions but I want them to really enjoy these. Thanks so much for any help you can give me!!!

Don't give up on the Epcot plumies. 2 out of the first 5 I bought there are doing just fine. I love plumeria guy because they are well rooted and that's the battle. They can go in the ground - my sister who is a wonderful gardener says that's the best way, but her's died due to frost. You can always wrap it if you have a frost warning. Dark plastic pots are said to be best and theoretically large ones, but the pots I saw at the party were quite small - maybe 2 gallons. If you read the plumeria forum on Gardenweb you will see that it really gets to be an obsession - and they are not pretty when they are not in bloom. I choose ones with a good fragrance. Most of mine are in 17 quart pots but they will probably have to be transplanted at some point.

Read the website at plumeria101.com. It's a crapshoot though. Some people say to give them a drink when potting and then no water until they are rooted. Some people root them in water. Others water once a week. I don't water until they show some activity and then very little. When they are leafed out and rooted use some superbloom fertilizer. At that point I water regularly but still not very much. They need excellent drainage which is why I use 1/3 potting soil and 2/3 perlite. SuperThrive is helpful as is something called SNG which can only be purchased on-line.

They really are beautiful and it's a lot of fun, but I am also LOVING our brugs - ask Dandave.
