CBR related question......

I've got a portable DVD player that I could bring if the TV had jacks to plug it into. Would be nice to play "Toy Story", "Bugs Life", "Shrek" and others for the kids during the evening.

Any idea if the TV's in the rooms have input jacks on the front or rear for this purpose?

yes, they do. every resort has sony televisions with an input in the back of the tv...we did the same thing at multilple locations on property.

Thanks for the feedback! I called the hotel too and their engineering department confirmed that they'd send someone to hook it up for us.

I stayed at ASSp and did not recall seeing a video in jack on the TV. Perhaps I didn't look closely enough, I do expect that Disney purchased large quantities of the same model of TV set to equip the resorts, but if per chance your TV doesn't have a video in jack...

For most DVD players you cannot unscrew the antenna line or cable TV feed from the back of the TV and use that screw-on jack. The DVD player cable won't fit.

(You can use the antenna jack on the TV if you have an "RF modulator", Radio Shack sells these for about USD $30.00, it goes between the DVD player and the TV.)

My DVD comes with the standard RCA red/black/yellow jacks for L/R/Video hookup.

Based on the conversation I had with engineering, I'm assuming the TV's they've got have this type of simple input connection. If they're 27" Sony's, they've got the direct input jacks I've described and the need for a sophisticated modulator (through the coax cable) won't be necessary.

Thanks for the feedback though, and I'll let you know when I get down there....

We stayed at GF,BWI and AKL and all three had tvs with input jacks on the front. I kicked myself for not bringing the patch cord for my camcorder. DO NOT try and screw around with connectors on the back of the set. Many hotels do not use connectors like you have at home and some are even alarmed. That's why the resorts offer to send someone to hook up your dvd player.
