I answered the OP's question. They dont celebrate the events in question because they are a false religion. Its pretty cut & dry.

Who says it's false? I'm sure that the millions of people who practice those two religions don't feel that way. Who are you make that determination?

And I stand by my statement. Anyone who's religious views are as narrow and extreme as yours are at least perceived to be is no better than an Islamic extremist.

I didn't know in Christianity there was a REQUIRMENT to celebrate those days. My mom, who is a Christian, does not celebrate Christmas or Easter because of the pagan roots. So does that mean she is following a false religion??!??!

My grandmother is a JW. She does celebrate Thanksgiving. She actually gives presents on Thanksgiving instead of Christmas.

My son had a JW girl in his class from K-8. Although she did not participate in the normal festivities that others enjoyed, neither she, nor her family, ever expected those celebrations to be stopped because she wasn't participating.

I could be wrong, but I believe the info you're quoting is just cut and pasted from JW info, and not necessarily the poster's viewpoint.

I agree, that wasn't the posters beliefs, rather something she found online to answer the OP's question.

But look again at the explanation from SeaSpray. Isn't it just as intolerant to say:-
Christmas and its customs come from ancient false religions.
or
The early Christians did not celebrate Christmas or Easter, nor do true Christians today.

Why should other people have their belief categorised as false or be judged not true just because they are not JWs?

Just to clarify, SeaSpray posted something she found online to answer the OP's question. They are not neccesarily her beliefs.

JW's do have some interesting perceptions on religion. However they don't refer to non-JWs as cult members. 2funny2c also refers to LDS as Cult Members. Now I will be the first to admit I've had some less than wonderful encounters with Witnesses. Not so with LDS. And I notice 2funny2C never mentions another offshoot of Christianity, Dreads. Of course he's too busy spewing his vitriol to be bothered to know about one of the faster growing religions with Christian roots in the world.

I assume his main belief is that they don't believe in the Trinity..They don't believe Jesus is G-d.
I will say that JW'S understanding of *hell* is much closer to that of the way Jews read the Tanakh..SOme of their beliefs are closer to Judaism than most other Christian denoms

As for JW.... We had neighbors who were JW and had kids around DS's age. They were allowed to attend Bday parties for others but could not celebrate their own BDays. On holidays like Halloween their church would hold services so they would not be at home when for Tor T.

I've never understood why JWs (and a few other religions) don't vote. How is having your say in the way the county is run idolitry or putting others before God? Anybody know?

Again, who's to say that your doctrine is the "sound" one?

Bottom line, it's all about how you conduct yourself on this earth. If you think that when you get to the Pearly Gates, because you went to church every Sunday you're going to get a "Get Out of Jail Free" card that will negate the fact that you spread gossip about your next door neighbor for fifteen years, you're kidding yourself.

Instead of spreading a message of hate and intolerance, why don't you go spend some time volunteering for Meals on Wheels? It's going to get you a lot further with the Big Man in the long run.

The reason it is taught to be a cult is baptist doctrine teaches that God exists in three forms. God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. They are one in the same. JW do not believe that Jesus was God which is in direct conflict with Baptist doctrine. So I don't believe that the Baptist Church and JW worship the same God as JW deny that God was in human form as Jesus. That is why JW and LDA are classified as cults.

Nop! They don't celebrate any holiday that was a PAGAN holiday in the past, Christmas, birthday, halloween, christmas tree, all these and some others were PAGAN holidays.
