We have been to disney world as a family over 10 times, and have never went to pleasure island because my kids were always with us. This year, since we are getting the MYW tickets and will have 3 pluses, we are thinking of using one of them for pleasure island. We are travelling with 5 children, ages 9, 15, 16, 17 and 18. I am sure the 16 17 and 18 year olds would enjoy pleasure island, but would they allow the 9 and 15 year olds in? If not, I guess the teenagers could babysit one night, just DH and I could get a night out. .

Would like to hear from others that brought children to pleasure island.
Thanks

If I remember correctly, you don't have to pay any more to get IN to PI, but you have to be ID'd and have paid to get into a club. Honestly, though? Even if you could, I wouldn't take a 9-year-old at night - there is quite a bit of drinking and carousing that go on, and it's very much an adult-type experience.

They will let them in. There are a few clubs they won't be allowed into unless they are 21. But the Comedy Club and Adventurers Club often have kids attend.

Remember the whole island is one big nightclub. Jello shots are sold on the streets. Earlier in the evening it doesn't tend to be too rowdy, but you can't control for the people who started drinking in the hotel bar at 4:00. While you CAN take your children, it is up to you on if you WANT to take your children.

Jello shots = little cups that hold Jello that is made with an alcoholic beverage. So, the "drink" just slides down your throat.

Wow, talk about being behind in "the times"!

I was thinking that they could go to Disney Quest...but I am nervous about the teens watching my 9yr DD there...I may just have them watch her at the hotel.

I am sooo thinking of partying at pleasure island.. the night of my visit, i am going to be 19.. so i do want to have a good time....does anyone know if they id outside the clubs...for jello shots..i know what your think im not 21...but a little jello shot never hurt anyone. :)

They ID. They will give you a wristband. There is NO underaged drinking at PI, they are very strict about it. Get caught trying, and they will throw you out. They may even not permit you on Disney property.

A little underaged drinking does hurt the proprietor (in this case Disney) if they get caught....they can lose their liquor license.

We were at Comedy Warehouse in June, and the group in front of us was a bit young looking, and when they got to the part of the line where they check ID's, a couple of members in the group had "forgotten" their ID. They left the line, and when another CM came up and asked the CM working the line what had happened, the 2nd CM took off chasing after the group. Not sure what happened, but I assume he was going to make sure that they didn't try to get into another club without ID. So, I would also say that Disney takes this very seriously.

i def. wont try then.. i dont need to anyways.. and i figured that since disney is supposed to be a case for kids and they could get in a lot of trouble if they sold to minors. just picture little kids getting drunk...not cool..so don't worry i wont attempt, i just wanted to know..thank u guys

I am 20 and had a great time at PI anyway. They even asked for my ID even though I told them I wasn't 21. I thought their thouroughness was fantastic.

There was a little kid (8 or so) at our show at comedy warehouse. I thought it was a little rediculus to bring a kid. It's not appropriate. There is open drinking, "interesting" clothing (or lack of clothing) and adult behavior. Besides, no offense to anyone, I enjoyed the no whining children evening (we left the kids back at the hotel with "dad")

You are right, there is always room for jello   :teeth:

I am wondering what the comedy show is like at Pleasure Island? Is it "adult" material?

I'd consider it about a PG13 sometimes straying into R rated material.

The comedy show apparently gets worse the later in the night you go. The first shows are fairly tame.

Possibly the most important thing to remember at PI is that while it is Disney, and the antics at the Adventurers Club or Comedy Warehouse don't tend to the overly obscene, you can't control for the other guests.
