Just DH (45) and myself (48). Only plan to spend one night somewhere besides the parks. DH doesn't dance (I guess he doesn't - I've never seen him!) I posted earlier about PI and got some great replies. I'm just not sure what we would enjoy better. I know PI has the comedy club (and we are big fans of standup comedy) and Adventurers Club (which definitely sounds interesting). Just trying to figure out where our money is best spent for one night "out". Seems like PI would end up costing us quite a bit more when you consider admission and drinks as opposed to Jellyrolls (and this sounds like a really fun place too), but we would have alot more options at PI to roam around. So what would you do?

JELLY ROLLS! Hands down!

PI is over rated.....a real meat market of young uns...... JRs is much more fun and more bang for you buck! :cool1:

Comedy Club (when last we visited) as not "stand-up" per se, but a comedy IMPROV GROUP (think, "Who's Line is it Anyway").

We have enjoyed it several times.
The group is very sharp and quick with a good line, and they have some really funny "prepared bits" that poke fun at the overall "WDW vacation experience".
Each show has a fixed "start time" (entire club is let in at once, like a movie theater). Each show runs only about an hour, then they "cycle the room" and everyone who was INSIDE exits via the front doors to let in the next victims (I mean audience members) via the rear doors.

Adventurers Club is open-ended, in that you can spend as much or as little time there (to see the various "shows" they conduct) as you wish.
Its a kind of IMPROV as well, as the club regulars/actors/CMs who inhabit the joint interact freely with the audience/guests/guinea pigs who attend for the evening.

As for JELLYROLLS, its also an open-ended evening, and a "Mickey Finn's" kind of place. Everyone is part of a big party with great piano players as the main attraction.

So you really can't go wrong either way.

Even though it costs some $, you MIGHT just want to try PI one evening and the Boardwalk area another... after all, this IS a "WDW vacation experience"!! ;)

We enjoy the Comedy Club and the Adventurers Club very much, but Jellyrolls is fantastic. I'm sure there are some people who do not have fun at Jellyrolls, but I've never heard of them.

For Sarah and Paul, Jellyrolls is a dueling piano's bar. If you've ever been to a Howl at the Moon, that's it. It is a total blast. You request a song (along with a tip, the more the tip the more likely the song you request will be played) and it's sing a long, crowd participation at it's best.

Since my wife and I have begun going to Jellyrolls we haven't been back to PI.

Jellyrolls all the way!

After I graduated college, my mom and I went on DCL and then did WDW for four days. One night we decided to check out Jellyrolls and had a complete blast!!!

It might have helped that we met some cute Scottish men who bought us drinks all night :rolleyes1 , but singing along to all those songs wasn't too bad either...

It is a sing along bar at the Boardwalk Resort, lots of fun.You write down a request(money recommended) on a napkin for the dueling pianos to play, then the whole bar sings along.I'll be there myself May 19-26 as much as I can.

I vote for Jellyrolls too! Excellent and funny improvisational piano-playing singers! :teeth: They take requests from the audience all night long. DH and I went there for the first time last fall and had a blast! :sunny:

Seems unanimous. Jellyrolls, here we come! :cool1:

Jelly Rolls sounds like fun.

Can someone give me the low down on it. What is the cost to enter? Are meals part of this and if so what is on the menu and what cost?

Drinks? ALcoholic or non alcoholic? Again costs?

Hours of operation?

Location?

:confused3

Thanks! ::yes::

I too vote jelly rolls.
Both leaded and unleaded drinks....full service bar.
7 or 8 to 1 or 2
$7.ooish cover
boardwalk far end next to the dance hall

There is now an $8 cover charge to enter. Full bar, no food inside, not even snacks, although I've heard sometimes they have popcorn. There IS smoking inside this bar, and I believe that's why they cannot serve food there.

Oh, Jellyrolls is a must :) It's a blast there.

As SeaSpray said, the cover charge is $8, and it's worth every penny. The piano players are fantastic (especially my favorites Scotty and Ray). You can go to www.thepianomen.com to see the schedule for who will be playing during your stay--the schedule comes out a few weeks at a time.

As others have said, there is no food except for slightly spicy popcorn, so eat before you arrive.

The doors open at 7:00, and the pianos start at 8:00. There is really no need to get there at 7:00, though. I do recommend getting there before 9:30 if you want to make sure you get a table as opposed to a bar stool (especially on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday nights). I think a lot of people plan on heading over after Illuminations, so the crowds pickup about 9:30.

If you see Scotty and Ray, tell them Karen from Boston sent you!

Jellyrolls allows smoking?

I have never been to Jellyrolls (was hoping to for the Mousefest DIS meet this past year but work got in the way) but the Adventurers Club is a great place to spend an evening if you are looking for someplace non-smoking. Also, I think most, if not all, the clubs on PI are non-smoking now. I know that is important to some people, to others, not so much. :)

Hi,
While we do love the Adventurer's Club, I have to go along with the crowd and say Jellyrolls. The only problem we have with Jellyrolls is the smoking.

The drinks are expensive, but that is true anywhere at DW.

You may have to get a taxi if you are staying at one of the resorts. I think you can get a taxi in front of the Boardwalk Inn. :flower:

Dress Code almost everywhere at Disney is "Resort Casual". Tennis shoes are fine.
The only places I would definitely try to dress up for are the fine dining areas associated with the more Deluxe resorts. All the dinners in Epcot can be tourist attire due to the nature of people touring all day though.

We had a good time at the COmedy CLub in PI, but Jellyrolls was definitely my favorite!

What kind of songs can they play at Jellyrolls? Contemporary, oldies, anything? My husband and I are big 80's fans (we like to pretend that we are still 18)... how does Boy George sound on the piano?
