we were thinking of going to Pleasure Island for the new year's eve celebration. however, at $90 a person, we wanted to make sure it was worth it. has anybody been to that celebration, and is it any good/worth the $?

if not, any other suggestions for the nearby area to celebrate? (we will actually be near I-Drive during the day, and will have to return to our hotel in I-Drive afterwards; we move into a disney resort on new year's day). thanks!

There will be a few 'big name bands' at PI (Smashmouth, SOS Band and Paul Jackson Jr), which may partly account for the cost. If you like a real party atmosphere (read: heavy drinking and loud music), go. If you prefer something more low-key and/or romantic, try Disney's Boardwalk resort, dinner at one of the off-site resorts (Gaylord Palms, Renaissance, Peabody, Champions Gate, Grande Lakes, etc), or head into Epcot for a long night of family-oriented celebrating.

I've never been at WDW for New Years Eve, but I recall one of the bus drivers telling me the sun is coming up by the time they get everyone back to the resorts. That should help you guage how crowded it is.

Pleasure Islands NYE event is a lot of fun.

It is STRICTLY 21+ on the whole Island. Nobody under 21 will be allowed onto the Island under any circumstance. You must have a ticket to be anywhere on Pleasure Island, as it is a special ticketed event.

Tips:

If you order your tickets, and do will call - pick up your tickets ASAP. If you pick them up at 8 or 9 on NYE, DO expect to wait in line.

Don't expect to show up at 9:00 and buy tickets. It sells out pretty much every year.

This is also the last year for the "West End Stage" - after New Years Eve, the nightly fireworks show, and the West End Stage will be no-longer a part of Pleasure Island.
