When I was making my dining reservations for Captain Jacks- I asked if that would be Ok for kids and if there if enough "nighttime" fun for kids- she said Kids can go to pleasure island--- If this is true- what can they do there? thanks

Captain Jacks is not in PI. It's just outside of it.

Be aware that PI is like a big street party with alcohol being servied right in the streets, including shooters. There are a few carnival type games, and usually a live band on the west end stage, but it's not really a "family" atmosphere. It's basically a big outdoors bar, suggestive dancing, drunks and occasional fist fights included.

If you are comfortable taking your kids to that type of atmosphere, you are allowed to do so, however it seems that the majority feel that it's not appropriate for kids. And many adults would prefer to not have kids there, so you'll probably get a lot of dirty looks.

Without actually going into the clubs, which requires admission with no reduced price for kids, and they aren't even allowed in several of the clubs, there's really nto all that much to do.

IMHO the Boardwalk is a much more family friendly/oriented place.

Captain Jacks is some really good food you might want to keep that ressie! :)

Hanging out downtown is one of our favorite things to do. There really is a lot of stuff to do down there at night. Wandering around looking at all the shops, DisneyQuest (our favorite thing) and even going to see a movie. I probably wouldn't take my 11 year old daughter to PI late (after 9) on a Friday or Sat. But in the early evening, between 6 and 9, it's really kinda fun. There's a club, (the name escapes me) that you can take the kids into and my daughter loved it. She really had a blast dancing, and it was really nice for us to get to do that together. Two years ago they had a great band playing on the stage out in the street. It was Halloween, they wore costumes, and my daughter thought it was the best Halloween ever. But again we were out of there by 9.

I really haven't experienced it to be quite as filled with debauchery as ducklite described it. So maybe I was just lucky. But in my experience the really hard core partier's rarely get started before nine. And my daughter enjoyed the experience of getting to do something she'd never get the chance to at home. YMMV
