Very new at this. We have three rooms, three confirmation numbers for 10 people. I understand that I can make 10 days of dining reservations beginning 6am EST, 180 days in advance......ready to do so next month.

I checked out the site. I selected a restaurant and went to make a reservation. Do I then use the link stating "use my dining plan to book pre-paid reservations?" That brought me to a screen asking for my confirmation number and arrival date. Is that the procedure?

Here is where I am confused:

1. One of our hotel confirmations is for only 2 people. May I use that confirmation number to make an ADR for the entire group of 10 people?

2. What would happen if I did use that confirmation number and made a reservation for the party of 10 on a particular date AND we doubled up using a different confirmation number to make a separate reservation (different restaurant) also on the same date? Four in the party "might" want to go off one night to celebrate a special occasion w/o the kids...........would the system catch that and void it?

Thanks for any advice....sorry if it is confusing.

Yes -- because if you're not a guest staying on property, you couldn't book the +10 days.

Yes, I believe you can book for as many people as you like under your reservation.

As long as its not the same reservation/confirmation number - you can do this. However, if you try and use the same reservation/confirmation number and the meal times are close together, it'll bring up a new screen and ask you to choose which reservation you want to keep/delete.

I have a trip planned for Feb 2013 but no actual confimation yet. I am able to make ADR's regardless and no request for an existing confirmation is asked.

you're already within 180 days (and then some). if you're still outside the 180days, you'll need it to get your +10 days of ADR bookings.

from wdw website:

When Should You Link

Disney Resort hotel Guests may book dining reservation for the first 10 days of their vacation starting 180 days before arrival.

If a Resort reservation includes a dining plan and the reservation requires pre-payment, linking the dining plan will not require pre-payment. (Note: Some locations require a credit card guarantee regardless of a dining plan.)

Thank you for answering some of my questions.
I'm still tying to figure out if I am doing it correctly.

I first went to the Disney dining site

Next I scanned down and selected a restaurant and clicked on the
orange box........"Book Reservation."

The next screen gave me a choice.
If I just wanted to make a reservation the only info required was
my name, email, phone #. Hotel confirmation numbers were NOT required.

If instead I selected the prompt......"use my dining plan to book a pre-paid reservation," it then required my Disney confirmation# and my arrival date.
Is this what I want to select to enable me to book 180 days in advance for all our meals? I guess the word pre-paid is confusing me.

There are some restaurants on Disney property that require you to prepay (Cinderellas Royal Table for example or Disney Shows). I've always used the selection to use your dining plan to make reservations and never had a problem.

Thanks....that is what I figured. It seemed logical to link your dining reservations to your confirmation.
