Am unsure when to take my two sons to Disney. When would you recommend? (My eldest will be around 4yrs old - but its the younger one i'm worried about - he will be either 5mths, 9mths or 14ths????). I hate flying so I need to think about when it will be easiest to fly with him too!!

Feb 2008 - 5mth old and cooler???

May 2008 - 8mth old, warmer but our 10th wedding anniversary???

Nov 2008 - 14mth old & toddling!! but its Xmas/ Thanksgiving ???

Oh choices choices, it would be between May and Nov.

And i think i Nov wins it for me.

DD first trip was when she was 10months, she took her first steps there.

Did you find it difficult to control her when she started walking!!! I'm just worried that my son will want to be exploring everywhere (very slowlY) and that we are not going to get to see anything (i'll have a 4yr old as well who will want to get going and I'm worried a toddler might put a stop to that)!!!

I figured if he isn't yet ready to walk he will be more content being wheeled around after his big brother??!!!

No problems whatsoever, the only thing that was a pain was the bottle thing i.e steralising etc.

She was good as gold by wanting to be in the buggy.

I would go for May or November over February, just because the weather is likely to be better, and May over November because I think an 8 month old is a lot more portable for holidays than a toddler.

We took DD when she was 3 months, and when she was 14 months - that second trip was hard work in terms of the flight, and just getting around where she wanted to keep getting out of the pushchair etc! I know it depends on the child, but based on our experience, those are my views. Good luck in your decision!

I voted for November, will be busier than February but I figure your younger son will be able to take in a bit more at 14 months.
Weather in November will be slightly more settled too I feel, February can be very unpredictable in my experience.

i think id rather go with a 5 month old or 8 month old than a toddler, whos just starting to get into everything, the baby would be easier on the plane, lighter to carry around, and sleep a lot more giving you more time with the 4 year old.

ob theres all the baby equipment etc, but thats not so bad as long as the baby is a good slleper, i think thet would be the clincher, but alll mine slept through from 3 months, so maybe youll be lucky!"
good luck whichever you decide.xxx

I voted 14 months. May is too hot to take a 8 month old in my opinion. Mainly because when dd and I went in May it was 34c each day. My dd suffered. October was nice. We took our 6 yr old daughter and twin boys of 23 months old. Yes the plane was hard, but we bought them seats that gave them thier own space. They did not mind at all sitting in the push chair and it helped us out when waiting for rides, it meant we did not have t hold them. You can have your own time with your 4 year old then, because not all rides the toddlers can go on. So we did baby swap and the boys either slept or just took in the atmosphere.

I think May or November.

Having said that we took DD when she was 6months and she was fine, but she was the first child. It is harder and more tiring with two. When it was just her we could sleep when she slept, totally keep her routine. With another child it is a bit harder.

My second child is 9 months now and we are going 4 May- so about the same as your plan. DD will be nearly 4.

With baby at 5 mths you might still be feeling really tired, nights could be broken (hopefully not) I think May or November are better options. At least with November eating will be easy and no sterilising or formula. Baby will still sit happily in pram I am sure. DD just dozed off in pram if she was tired, no fuss. We would go out in the evening (only to parks or DTD) and she would sleep in pram.

We took DD at 6 months, 11 months, 16 months, 23 months, 28 months and 32 months. We travelled during Dec, May, Sept and Feb. Every age was fine. Kids are normally quite portable at all those ages you suggest.

I am hoping my DS will cope as well as DD always did. Fingers crossed......

Feel free to PM me if you want to ask any more specific questions as our kids are same age.

Hope your pregnancy is going well.

Mandy :)

thank you all for your comments (and Mandy, yes I'm doing fine so far - thank you for your kind thoughts!!).

I guess I will probably stick to May, I think I can cope with the heat with the baby under buggy shades, keeping him out of the sun & hydrated etc - but the more I think about waiting until he's older, the less i think i''d cope with chasing a toddler round as well as a 4yr old - even with Nov being cooler!!!!

thanks again!
