I have been to Disney World MANY times, and I always try a few new restaurants. I have a trip planned, all by myself, in May, and my intent is to try as many new restaurants as possible. I will only be there three nights, with a total of 3 dinners, 3 breakfasts, and 3 lunches.

So, I have posted a poll, with 12 of the restaurants I have yet to try. Please vote for as many as you REALLY believe are worth visiting. I also would really appreciate any comments - especially if a particular meal is best for breakfast, lunch, or dinner!

Thanks for helping me ensure an amazing meal experience! :thanks:

Edited: Since andysgirl360 pointed out that Bonfamilles is closed, please consider, when you vote, replacing that option with Boatwrights, Port Orleans's table service option - I can't figure out how to edit options. Thanks!

Artist's Point is a really nice meal, good food and atmosphere. We loved it and would definitely go back. Try the buffalo steak, you'll be pleasantly surprised!

I think Bonfamille's is closed though...I think the only TS restaurant at Port Orleans is Boatwright', if I'm not mistaken.

I have to admit, I have not eaten at most of the options you have listed, but after going over the menu's, if I ever get to go solo or without DD, I would defintely try Artist Point.

We really enjoyed RR and went twice on our last trip. The Apple & Strawberry crumble was delicous!

Since you're going alone, I would recommend a place that is lighted enough to read a book to keep yourself entertained. Shulas and Coral Reef are way too dark. I would also recommend a place that has counter-type seating facing the kitchen. Flying Fish and the California Grill both have that kind of set-up.

Does anyone have any feedback on Boatwrights? I am thinking I need to stay somewhere I haven't, and that list is - Hooray! - getting smaller. I was thinking Port Orleans would be good.

I also left Jiko off the list, and feel I must go there, since my hubby is not a fan of Animal Kingdom Lodge, and who knows when I will be there without him again!

I am THINKING: Dinners: Jiko, Boatwrights and Artist Point. Lunch: Raglan Road...

Any thoughts?

Thanks EVERYONE who has voted!!

Palio is also closed. Early this year, Il Mulino will be opening in its place.

On a recent trip we dined at Shulas and it was very good! Portions are HUGE and everything was delicious.

We also had breakfast at Boatrwrights and it was very good too.

I voted for Artist Point (great service, great food and wine list), but Flying Fish is a close second. And after reading the point about the bar facing the kitchen, I might move that up to first...I would love watching the chefs if I was dining alone.

You might consider Boatwright's for breakfast...we had a great brunch there during our last trip.

We like it for breakfast...it is very good. But that is the only meal we have had there.

Boatwrights was really good when we ate there, DH said it may have been the best food he ate on our trip.

I voted for three of my favorites that you had listed- 1900 Park Fare, Raglan Road, and Garden Grill. Bonfamillies was also one of my favorites, but unfortunatley, as others have already said, it's closed now. It use to be my favorite breakfast spot at WDW. :sad1: Boatwrights is ok, but I would recommend Park Fare before it.

Jiko is wonderful. It is the best meal I've ever had at WDW (maybe the best I've had anywhere, for that matter!) Attentive service and amazing food...I had the chicken (even though I'm usually attracted to filet mignon in places like that) upon the recommendation of the chef during the AKL culinary tour and it was truly the best chicken I've ever eaten. The flatbreads are also wonderful, as is the Taste of Africa dip sampler (which, if you take the culinary tour at 4 PM, you can taste for free!!!) Go and enjoy yourself--they have a counter you can sit at that overlooks "The Cooking Place," where they cook all the flatbreads in big ovens.

Over the course of 2 weeks of cumlative dining (one in Sept. and one in Dec.); Artist Point was our FAVORITE!!!! We ate at many signature restaurants, but my husband and I agree on this one. The buffalo sirloin steak... ahh.... memories...

Unfortunately my favorite on your list is Palio. But since it is gone and Le cellier and Jiko are not on the list, I voted for 1900PF.

How does one try the Culinary Tour? I've never heard of that, and I've stayed at AKL twice... Is it only for guests? What is the fee? Sounds GREAT!

Again, thanks EVERYONE for the feedback. I can't believe how excited I am to go alone! I'm picturing early mornings in the parks, then back to the resort pool, and then a great dinner out... So fun! I continue to welcome thoughts! :woohoo:

The Culinary Tour like many of the things to do at AKL are free and are for all. There is a display board to the left as you enter from the outside, Near luggage services that shows times and places to meet for all the tours.

My family of 4 were the only ones on the Culinary tour and we toured both Jiko and Boma. Great interaction with the Chefs. Had some appetizers at Jiko. Jiko's chef went to the Culinary school my DS16 wants to attend.

We met a couple of chefs at Boma. One of whom remembered us at dinner that evening and brought out a special desert for us.

The Art of the AKL Tour is also great.

That is so funny. I thought we had eaten at a lot of restruants in WDW but we haven't eaten at any of the resturants you mentioned. I am anxious to see how everyone votes. Enjoy
