Hello,
I'm still having trouble picking a moderate resort for our October trip. Right now I have WL booked because we love it there but we want to save a bit of money and use that for souvenirs & dinner shows. Our favorite resort is Poly for the theme and the monorail and the pool. We are a family of four, with a DD8 and DS3. We usually stay deluxe but have stayed at Pop too last month for a weekend for DD'S BDay. It was finebut of course I'd rather be at Poly. We will be flying to Disney so we won' have a car. Also not on the dining plan. I just can't decide but here are my thoughts.

I think POFQ is a good choice because it's a small resort and the boat to DTD is a plus. There Pool looks good and it's supposedly a quiet resort. I have read some horrible reviews about dirty rooms. Also the wall unit A/C is said to be noisy.

CSR would be a good choice because the pool looks awesome and I think the resort looks beautiful too. I love the pics of the Cabana's section but what if I gte put in Rancho's, that wouldn't be so great. We don't use a stroller at the resort. I have read that they have the best bus service. Also not sure if the room refurb will be a problem in October?? We do take midday breaks. So which resort should we choose?? Any opinions would be great! Even better if you have stayed at both resorts. Thanks :goodvibes .

We stayed at CSR last nov and I was really disappointed when I found out our room was in Ranchos, but actually I was great there was one or two buildings between us and the pool and we would drive to get to the restaurants. Overall, what we liked best was the long waterslide, huge hot tub, and Pepper Market.

I have never stayed at CSR before so I cannot comment on that but we stayed at POFQ last year & we LOVED it!! It is small & food court & bus stop close to all buildings. We were the first to get picked up in the am & first to be dropped off. The boat to DTD is great!! We will be back there next month!!:cool1: :cool1:

We stayed at POFQ in February and LOVED it!! It is so beautiful and charming! We were in building 5 and were sooo close to everything. The lobby, food court, pool, gift shop, bus stop, and boat dock were literally a 2 minute or less walk. The boat to DTD is awesome too!

I think it depends on what is more important to you: A really great pool area or a compact resort.

I like them both but for my family (kids are 11 adn 13) CSR would be our pick. However, if I had a toddler and didn't want to bring a stroller, or I had mobility issues I would go with POFQ. The POFQ pool is ideal for younger children.

We were in the Ranchos section at CSR and I didn't find the walk to be that bad. However, if I had a toddler I would bring a cheapo umbrella stroller to be safe. They do have golf carts that circulate to take you around but its kind of hit or miss if you can get one when you need it.

I loved my stays at both of these resorts and can't say anything bad about either one. However, they are so different its hard to compare. If you want to eat at DTD and love the boatride, then go with POFQ. I do think CSR has great busses, they don't share and with so many conventioners the busses are frequently deserted. POFQ is picked up and dropped off first if they share with POR. POFQ is very romantic and has a nice food court that is very family friendly and not far from any room. CSR has the Pepper Market which is also very good but it could be a bit of a hike depending on your room location.

CSR is the most deluxe feeling mod on property in that they have room service a spa and its a lovely resort and pool. It also has quiet pools which we REALLY missed at POFQ. However, if you won't bring a stroller I would say go with FQ. Again, I don't think you can make a bad choice.

We've stayed at both. No comparison. POFQ wins hands down!!! I really like the compactness of it and the "cozy" feel of the resort. CSR lacked that cozy feeling all the way around. They did have great bus service though.

Another vote for POFQ. I've stayed at both, but my heart is at POFQ. It's small and quiet and so beautiful. I know I'm staying at CSR on my next trip, but that's because DBF needs a fitness center. We will visit PO on our last night for a carriage ride and to visit Scat Cats. Elliot Dyson is awesome. I think what makes POFQ so great is it has its own bus stop at MK in the evening. I also love the secluded hot tub, something that is not found at CSR.

Though we have never been to CBR....we love POFQ!!!!! With the DTD boat ride, the short walk to the pool, food court and bus stop, how can you go wrong. And I agree, getting to go to the Scat Cat and seeing Elliot really seals the deal!!! If you have never seen Elliot Dyson, no matter where you stay..make a point to stop in for a cozy drink and great entertainment.

Love CSR! Good point about CSR's central air conditioning-very quiet! As mentioned, the bus service is good, The Dig Site pool/playground is a great place for kids...and adults, too! There is a marina where you can rent boats. We liked the food and service at the Pepper Market (CS), Maya Grill (TS), and Siestas (CS). We found CSR to have a relaxing atmosphere, and beautifully landscaped. Although we tend to stay deluxe, we will be returning to CSR next month for a second visit.

Love the CSR. Although a very large, spreadout resort, DH and I love the quietness of the resort after a long day/night at the parks; we like walking around the lake when the sun has set and the lights are reflecting over the lake; we love the Dig Site pool, the quiet pools and the hot tub; we love the gift shop...one of the largest in all of the resorts; love the Pepper Market; and I love the spa where I get a massage every year. Although both of our boys are now older (22 and 20), the CSR was always their favorite resort. I can't comment on the bus service because we always rent a car, but we have had other guests tell us it is the best bus service they have ever experienced at Disney.

Another vote for CSR! We thought POFQ's theming was tacky.. it looked like it was somewhat rundown and overall not our style. CSR is fresh and bright and full of energy!! We like the theming of the Ranchos the best and you can always take advantage of the transportation so you won't have to walk far.. take the bus from any stop to the main building or use the golf carts.. never had a problem with that :)

I have stayed at both and personally perfer POFQ. Csr was beautiful but just to large, spead out, we didn't find the bus transportation to be good , the food court was not our favorite (although the food was good we felt it was overpriced for what it was and had to wait a long time for a seat because of all the conventioners).

POFQ is smaller and just seems like a more fmaily friendly resort to me although I could have just had an "off" weekend at CSR since it was filled to the brim with conventioners (they were even sitting outside the rooms on laptops- just adds a different feeling imo just do not want to be thinking about work when I am at Disney lol!).:goodvibes

I voted CSR, although I liked both.

We've stayed at CSR twice with our kids and had great stays. I like the spaciousness of the resort - it feels like its own entity, its own destination, its own enclave in the World. So while it is spread out, I think that adds to the resort feel, not detracts from it. We like the Pepper Market for the variety and large portions. I love Panchitos store. Our older son liked the pool and slide and playground. We love the bus service there. We always had a seat on our way to the parks, and only stood on our way back late at night.

My husband and I stayed at POFQ on our anniversary trip this past January. I wanted something smaller, maybe more romantic, someplace where I wouldn't be reminded of things we did with our kids. We liked the boat-ride to DTD, but it would have been way too long with our toddler; I'd rather drive or take the bus. The food court was pretty good and we ate breakfast there in the mornings. It just had a different feel to the resort. Where some posters have called it "cozy," I thought it seemed kind of too closed in. Things were convenient; it was only a 5 minute walk to the food court and the only bus stop was at the main building, also. The pool did look like fun and my husband thought our kids would enjoy it, also, especially the dragon slide. We didn't have an issue with bus service, really. It didn't take any longer to go do the loop at POR than it does to do the 4 stops at CSR, but we like the Cabanas at CSR, so we get on either last or next-to-last (stop 4 or stop 1). The shared service was only an issue at night when the lines were very long at closing. At DHS one night, we waited quite awhile for a bus to the PO resorts, and we didn't make it on until about the 3rd or 4th bus.

Anyway, in summation...:rotfl: CSR is quiet and spacious and feels like an oasis in the middle of the World busy-ness. POFQ is fairly quiet but more close-knit and I didn't get that resort feel there. On pools, the edge goes to CSR for the main pool and multiple quiet pools. On food, the edge goes to CSR for the choices: Pepper Market, Rix, and Maya Grill. On transport, the edge goes to CSR for its designated buses.

You'll have a lovely vacation no matter where you are! Have a great one! :goodvibes
