for the $$$ compared to a moderate? We like to spend a lot of time in MGM and Epcot, have stayed at the YC before, and loved the location. Dh has this "thing" about REALLY enjoying going to get coffee in the a.m. while kids and I get ready. I think he'd start his morning off right going to the Boardwalk to fill his refillable mug (one of 5 which we'll buy when we get there and only use for this trip and resort of course) and maybe get a danish or something to bring back to us like he usually does. Unless it's raining! Please give me pros and cons of the BWI. It is a good bit of money.

I personally thought BWI was wonderful when we stayed there. The service was great and it's a beautiful hotel. The boardwalk is a lot of fun and you can practically step out of your room right into the action. You'll love it.

BTW: tell your DH that he needs to get an early start for his coffee unless he wants to wait in line at the pastry shop. I think I got there just after opening and there were still 4 or 5 people. They do make some good cappucino, though.

Location, location, location. Like in real estate, that's what you are paying for, and it's worth it. Enjoy!!!

We have stayed at BWI twice in the past 4 years and really enjoyed the resort. There were no real "cons" in our opinion. The one thing it gets knocked for is the "lack of indoor lobby restaurants". Well we just thought of the whole BW as an "outdoor lobby". The restaurant choices are great, we loved Spoodles for breakfast on a leisurely morning, ESPN for lunch or a quick, casual dinner, hot dog cart-Spoodles takeout window for a quick meal and the mainstay of our trips.... the Bakery! That place is great, you can get everything there from pastry, cookies, dessert, fresh fruit, yogurts, sandwichs etc....

Also, we really liked the staff of that resort, the theme, the pool....

:cloud9:

PS. Should have added that in the morning you can get coffee and limited pastry at the Bellvue Lounge inside BWI incase of rain.

We stayed at BWV in Jan 2004 (rented point) and even though we thought about booking BCV for our Jan 06 trip, we went with BWV again. We love the location, the resort itself is ust beautiful & convenient to so much! I think it is a worth the extra money you'll spend!

Have you considered renting points? Your hubby could make his own coffee with an in-room coffeemaker in a DVC room! :)

We have stayed at the BWI, and BWV. We just love this resort and location so much we have a hard time going anywhere else now!!! When we think we will try something new, we just add 2 days to our trip to experience a new resort. The majority of our trip must be spent at the BW!! We really haven't found any "cons". To be able to walk to MGM and Epcot is a huge advantage. Not to metion all the restaurant options. But, the resort itself is so beautiful. The rooms are spacious and very pretty decor. The staff is amazing and always friendly and helpful! When we were in the BWI we had a standard view which was of Epcot WS, specifically the Eifel tower. We heard the music from Illuminatios and got to see the upper fireworks all from our balcony! Below was a beautiful view of the Garden villas at the Inn with really pretty gardens! Also the quiet pool there is one of our favs!

Make sure your DH gets to the bakery early, because it is crowded in the mornings. Quality stuff though so it's worth the wait!

Also being able to have the "action" right out our door is a huge plus for us. We even love just hanging in the lobby!

You will love it! Now if you can convince your DH to rent points and stay at the villas then let me warn you. You will be hooked on the DVC and become a mamber in no time! It happens to the best of us! ;)

I'm a huge Poly fan, but that being said, BW is my next fave, and I'm often torn between staying at the Poly and at the Villas there. BW is a beautiful resort with a great location. The only thing that keeps me from booking there presently is that I need the monorail with two young kids. Otherwise, I'd stay there again very soon! Have no fear - you'll love it!

Besides the location -- which for you is perfect! -- it's just so dang PRETTY. The place is airy and comfy and festive. Hanging out in the lobby or sitting on the porch in one of their massive rocking chairs, you will really feel like you are "down shore" (as they say in Jersey). There are gorgeous gardens around the grounds, too, if you just go look for 'em. And the pool is a blast :cool1:

FWIW: Last time we stayed there, they also had coffee and muffins and stuff in the first floor lounge, not far from the lobby.

Go and relax and have a wonderful time! :)

We stayed for the first time in March. I loved it, the kids loved it and my husband loved it. The staff was wonderful. The location was unbeatable. We spent most of our time at Epcot and MGM. We did venture over to MK and AK, but our main focus was Epcot and MGM. Perfect location for us.
The only thing that was a con for us on our trip was some wrong info. We wanted to get over to MGM on the early open day which as at 7am. We were told that the boat would be arriving at 7am. It hadn't. We went back and checked only to find out that it wasn't until 8am. We would have gladly planned to walk had we known or drove (as we rented a car this time). That was a minor kink in our vacation. I would stay there again and again. Infact we will again in Feb.

Hi,

As a couple of others have said, you can get a good selection of breakfast items in the Bellevue Lounge in the morning, and I was told the bakery items are from the Boardwalk Bakery. They sure tasted like it. On the other hand, it is neat to sit on the Boardwalk with coffee and boat, people watch. Also, Leaping Horse Libations ( the pool bar) has a good choice of snacks and adult beverages. Have a great trip!!!

Thank you everyone for your responses. You have made me feel much less guilty and a lot more excited about staying at the BWI. Any other comments are welcomed. DIS'ers are the best. :goodvibes

Swilphil is right - LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!! The BWI is fantastic. What's not to like? ESPN Club right down the stairs and down the boardwalk, Leaping Horse Libations (the pool bar), minutes from Epcot (with any luck, or intricate planning, perhaps a room that allows a view of Illuminations- we lucked into it our last visit), minutes from MGM, down the stairs to Flying Fish, and don't forget Spoodles (give it a try) and across the lagoon from Yachtsman Steakhouse- need I go on??
Oh yes, the coffee question. One of my absolute favorite WDW activities is enjoying the newspaper in the Bellvue Lounge. There are two English Fireside chairs (nice and comfy) against the far wall in the Bellvue. I'm an early riser so I am able to watch the place come to life while sipping my coffee, reading the paper and waiting and waiting and wa...... for my less than early risers. You will not be disappointed!!
