Please tell me that Netflix is better than Walmart DVD rentals

I posted a couple months ago asking about Netflix and all the replies were very positive. Like the idiot that I am, I instead signed up for the Walmart DVD rentals because they gave me a 30-day trial period. We were very impressed with how quickly the first movies came and with the first turn-around on returning those movies and getting the next set. After that, it has been nothing but delays and problems. They do not even want you to REPORT a problem unless a DVD has "gone missing" over 6 days. So, one movie took over a week from the time we returned it to when we got the next one and the other movie was closer to 2 weeks (I'm assuming, we are still waiting). Not acceptable.

I'm willing to hang my head in shame and follow the previous advice of my fellow DISers to use Netflix. Please just give me 50 lashes and assurance that Netflix is better.

and never had any problems. Movies arrive there quickly and new ones come within a couple of days too. We had great results even when we sent and received from 3 states away. We love Netflix.

I've been happy with NetFlix... I do the 3-out-at-a-time plan, and the turnaround has always been pretty quick.

Count SSB in also... as big Netflix fan!

Have done for a couple of years, so have seen lots of situations, and all handled well.

Once I had one that would not play, and they sent out replacement same day... and another time one lost, and they immediately gave credit for, and shipped out next one. No hassles at all.

Big Ditto!! We've been using them for quite a while and, anytime there's a problem, they are very quick to resolve. The communication, via email, really helps to keep track of when the movies arrive back to them and, when you should expect to receive the next one. Lately, my movies have been arriving the day before they say they'll get here. I'm not complaining! Also, last summer we just had NO time to watch movies so I called to cancel and, they told me to just suspend my account for a month (at a time) to avoid paying but, still keeping my movie list intact. That was really nice of them, imo.

We just cancelled our Netflix membership.

We would rather just go to the local rentals at the grocery store and pick up a DVD than wait for it to come in the mail.

We had the membership for about 2 years, and never used it. We just got tried of the $20 taken out of our checking every month.

My biggest problem with Netflix is that they get the movies to us so fast -- I have a hard time keeping the kids from watching them during the week.

Friday night is usually a movie night at our house during the winter. We are running out of "must sees" on our list though and I've been thinking of dropping it for a couple of months until some more stuff is released.

I just tried the 2 week trial period and cancelled for now. No problems in how quickly the movies came and their communication was very good....but 2 of the 6 movies I got were cracked and unplayable! I thought that was a pretty high percentage and it was frustrating cause the movies would start to play, and then halfway thru the movie just stop....upon inspection I saw that they were indeed cracked. :-( I will probably join up again in the future because it was very convenient.

Why didn't you just check the box on the sleeves saying they were unplayable and ask for replacements? That's what i would have done. That said, we had a couple of disks with slow spots on them, but nothing major. Dh and i are eagerly awaiting our next batch. Unfortunately, mail down here seems to be slow as mollasses

It's pretty sad that my sister manages a movie theater (which means I get in for free) & my list of movies to see has grown sky high.

The folks swear by Netflix. They've found some hard to movies & my mom is an old movie buff, so it's great for her.
