Please tell me I'm not weird!

I just bought a bunch of Disney Appliques at Walmart, from the craft section. Then I went and picked out cheap Faded Glory Shirts to match! I saved a bundle and I love making things for my DD2!

Whenever we are in the parks, most families are **themed**!! In most cases, they wouldn't dream of walking about like that back home.......;) It amuses me greatly - I even heard in a restaurant once a family being called by their name, but obviously had not heard, then it changed to something like family in goofy!!:teeth:

3/4 of my wardrobe is Disney related. I like looking down at my shirt and seeing Mickey smiling back at me. One year, for our WDW trip, I bought DH and I matching tshirts. The next year, I bought 2 sets. After that, DH and I have had several identical t shirts, sometimes in the same size (we have had the "no, that one's mine" arguement a few times). When DD came to be, she got matching tshirts with us, even though hers are a bit too big on her. Now that other DD11 will be joining us on this trip, I have gotten yet more matching stuff from the DS. She will match DH and I with some tshirts, and she will match DD2 with some tshirts and outfits. I have to be careful, though. DD11 has found her fashion sense and won't wear kiddie clothes. A lot of DS stuff is "cool" by her standards. I consider buying a new Disney wardrobe a necessity!

My dds are 4 and 2. I have bought 2 cinderella, 2 snowwhite, 2 sleeping beauty and 2 minnie mouse costumes to wear each day at the parks. We have the Cinderella character breakfast scheduled and I can't wait to take pictures. I figure we wear them early in the day for pictures and then switch to shorts.

I'm smiling right now thinking of my family (all seven of us) last March at WDW.
I made us all bright yellow tshirts that said "Haber DisneyWorld Vacation 2003" each kid and mom and dad got to pick out their favorite character to go underneath and also a favorite quote to go one the back. We downloaded the disney font online so all the writing was disneyish. We all wore these each day at MK (even dad who pick the Cheshire Cat for his).
A mass of yellow. Easy for mom to spot.
And about 100 people wanted to know where we got them. It seemed like every person behind us in a line asked us where we got our shirts. I'd say "I made them" and people would just look at me with mouth open. They were a hit!

We have also made shirts for Disney family vacations to include Mom, Dad, Son, Grandma and Grandpa, Auntie and Uncle. People have stopped us and asked us where we got them too! We often purchase matching Disney clothes when we can. As a matter of fact, I just purchased matching Disney Hawiian shirts for my husband, my son and myself yesterday from my local Disney Store (they also had long dresses in the same pattern for the moms and also for little girls, but I liked the shirt better for me)

I just made 2 sets of shirts for our family of 8 (3 generations). I have one more set to do. Glad that everyone liked the ones that you all have made. Last Aug I made Hawaiian Looking shirts that actually had a hot rod pattern for my DH and 3DSs. They were a huge hit and everyone wanted to know where we got them. I ran out of material and couldn't buy more so I was left out :( . This year we will all match most of the trip.

My DDs don't wear matching Disney themed clothing, but they do wear complimentary outfits, purchased at either The Children's Place or Land's End. I've done it for all three trips we've taken (one year even their underwear matched, LOL) but made sure to ask permission this year to get them matching clothing. DDs are almost 13 and 10 1/2. They actually sounded pretty excited to pick out outfits from the latest Lands End catalog! DD 10 1/2 is into lima bean green, and DD almost 13 likes blue and melon. Lands End had plenty for them to choose from!

I might try to get the four of us one set of matching Disney t-shirts, but hubby won't go for much more than that...

I just bought a Disney embroidery card for my embroidery machine! I was going to put appliques on my daughter's shirts, but I guess those are going back. Now I can make my husband some polo shirts, DD2 some shirts and dresses, and myself some maternity shirts! YEAH!!:bounce:
I have been looking so hard for Disney Maternity clothes!

add me to the list! I just made 6 matching t-shirts baby size thru GM size that say "miller family vacation 2004" with the characters above it! Love it!

I haven't done it in the past, but will be doing it at least half the days this trip. The pictures are so much cuter when everyone blends or matches!!

On one of our trips we say a young man around 16 years old wearing the Goofy hat with the ears. He thought it was the coolest thing! His dad kept saying "I can't believe you're wearing that"! His reply was" Dad, I'm in Disney, and only in Disney will you see me wear something like this"! So, go ahead if you want to wear Disney everyday, do it! I personally think it's a neat idea!

If you want some REALLY "spottable" shirts -- our local shirt printing shop has awesome bright tie-dyed shirts! I am getting some from them and doing my computer-printed graphics for the front.

Every summer I do shirts (on my computer) for the kids in our crew (5 of them -- 3 ours, 2 for BIL/SIL). When we had our big reunion, we did 18 shirts -- whew. My son has a much-beloved guinea pig and he has no less than 3 shirts with her somehow captured on the shirt (his favorite is the one that says, "HOW BIG IS YOUR PIG?" and Gracie appears to be saying, "Hey! I'm not fat... I'm just fluffy!") My husband says I'm a shirt factory each summer! Last year I also managed to get some awesome chroma-shirts from Land's End at a great discount (end of summer deal). I am going to applique Disney on those for our crew -- each kid has a different color. I think they will look cool, and they will think it's so awesome to watch the shirts change color as the summer sun heats up!

One big benefit to dressing everyone alike for the parks -- finding each other in a crowd! I know too that if my kid ever gets lost, heaven forbid, I could tell someone, "Have you seen a kid in THIS shirt?" and point to my own! And the kids know exactly what Mom and dad are in too -- no trying to recall if Mom was in a white shirt or whatever -- they just have to look at what they are wearing!

I'm sure Disney isn't too thrilled that so many of us are computer-savvy enough (or have awesome sewing machines -- I'd give my eye teeth for one of those!) to make our own shirts. HOWEVER... Disney, if you are listening -- you did this to yourselves when you quit making the really cool, clever embroidered tee shirts! I'd buy those in a heartbeat! Anybody else remember these? My favorite was the one with the pocket sewn on upside down and Goofy hanging out of it. Or funny ones like Gopher running into the bottom of the pocket and rubbing his head, while Pooh looks on from the pocket top. We spent a bundle on those back in the late 90's... and then they disappeared and got replaced with kitchy plastic toys and cheapo screen-printed shirts. Shame on you Disney!

I don't think we're crazy for wearing our mouse gear! I have seen Disney merchandise at so many chain stores lately. Stores like Walmart and Target have lots of Disney clothing. I have been able to find many outfits that match for my 2 dd's. I have found several things for myself as well. I have noticed even deptment stores like Sears and JC Penny's with Disney items. I have family members that thought I was over the top when I asked if they wanted to wear matching outfits, but when they were with us at WDW they regretted not wearing the "house of mouse" couture. I now have the job of spotting clothes for future WDW trips for the entire family.

Those tye-die shirts look cool. I didn't realize that others had made them before and recently talked to my family about make those very T-shirts. We opted for bright colors with a computer transfer.

How do you all make your own family t-shirts using the computer? All I know how to do on the computer is log onto the DIS Boards!! LOL!!
