Please tell me I'm not the only dork who does this

Last night, the power went out in our neighborhood (for 14 hours!). Even though I was carrying a flashlight with me, every time I went into a room I turned the light switch on, just out of habit. As soon as I did it, I realized that of course the light isn't going to work.

So I don't know, am I totally losing it or has anyone else ever done this (and more than once too)?

I do that too. It's fun watching my ds hit the power button on the remote control when the power is off though.

I've done it too. Not that I remember during a power outage, but if a lightbulb burns out I'll keep flipping the switch out of habit forgetting that the bulb hasn't been changed yet.

You're NOT alone.

The 1st time this'll happen during an outage is when I go downstairs to get the candles and, Flip the Switch for the light on the stairs!!! And, that's just the beginning!

I think it's more of a force of habit than anything. And yes, I do it too.

Yep - Force of Habit - I do it too. You'd think I'd have learned by now, we lose power quite often (gotta love Ni-Mo)

Yup, another one reporting in. I always do that. We remodeled our kitchen last year and moved a light switch from one side of the doorway to the other, I still reach to the wrong side every time! Old habits die hard i guess.

I can top that for dorkiness Sharon. Once when our electricity was out the A/C of course was out. So I told my DH, "Where's that old fan? We'll plug it in until the A/C comes back on?"

He's never let me live it down!!!

Not only do I do the switch...I try to engage the clutch everytime I drive my dad's AUTOMATIC suv.....

LOL! I don't do that, but I absolutely cannot make myself not flush the toilet if something's wrong with it or the water is off, no matter how many times I remind myself.
