I am not new to the DIS and I am not new to WDW. However, I AM new to photo pass. We haven't been to the parks in a little over a year. We have never used a photo pass. As a matter of fact, we have never really stopped for one of the parks' photographers. I always bring my own camera and take hundreds of pictures. We leave for the parks in 10 days!!! :woohoo: I know that my package comes with 1 photo pass. Is it basically a number or CD where the photographers store your photos that they take?

Its a little credit card thing that the diney photographers scan when they take your pictures. You can view your pictures at many locations and buy the ones you want. You can also buy a CD of all the pictures at the end of your trip. We use them a lot. We usually end up with about 60 pictures on a photopass plus the hundreds we take every trip.

How much is the CD? I guess it depends on the number of photos on it??? Or is it the same price no matter what?

The CD is $99 plus tax for up to 300 pictures. We bought the cd when we were down there two weeks ago. We only had 150 pictures on our cd, but we also took plenty with our own camera. You can go up to every disney photographer and they will take several pictures of you, then put in on your photopass card. We waited until the last full day we were there, then had the cd burned at the photo store in epcot. We thought it was worth it.

I agree, get the CD. Well worth the money. Don't be afraid to have your pictures taken every time either. For instance we would get our picture taken everytime they asked...even if it had been done the day before. We ended up with lots of great pictures. Some days the kids were smiling but the next they were. By the end of the trip we were getting goofy and those pictures were fun too. AND as the picture taker of the family the only pictures I'm in are the photo pass! :rotfl2: Thankfully we had it...our camera was lost and never turned in so we lost most of our vacation pictures.

Thanks for all of the information. I will beg DH for the CD. I am afraid that he will say no, though, since I usually take a million pictures. I would like to have some family shots, though. Maybe he will agree.
kimmikayb, I am so sorry about your camera.

just a reminder...it was noted in many of the posts above...you need to buy the CD before you leave the park...the photopass has a website (www.disneyphotopass.com) where you can enter your photopass ID number and view the photos and buy them indivdually, but you CANT buy the CD online......we learned that the hard way in April :guilty:
enjoy the trip !!

I thought this procedure has been changed, and that the CD can be purchased online when you return home. Anyone know for sure?

Also when you order online the smallest they come available in is 5x7. I did not know that. I'll still order them (well, some!)but I'll have to scan and reduce them as that's larger than I like in my scrapbooks.

Hi. I take bunches of pictures too, but we still found so many photopass pictures we wanted to order because they were family shots and a lot of them turn out so nicely because the photographers know how to line you up with your surroundings just right. I don't think we had nearly enough photo pass pictures taken to justify the 300 picture CD. I think we had about 45 pictures when we got home so we just ordered a few of the best ones and sent the link to the grandparents to pick some out. (Then the grandparents are paying for their own too :thumbsup2 )

We thought the pictures were excellent. Have fun!

That is true. I don't have to decide on the CD until the day we leave. I will be able to know then if it will be worth it or not. I do like to put a family picture in Christmas cards each year if possible. (I put a picture of the kids in them if we don't have a good family photo available.) This will be a great way to get an excellent family picture.
Thanks everyone!

I read through the website for Photopass and it looks like you CAN order the CD online for $99.

What a neat concept. Can't wait to try it! I won't obsess so much about getting just the right shots if I know I have some Photopass shots taken.

PhotoPass is great -- and if you're going to be there more than a few days, the CD is well worth the cost (you'll probably spend more on soda pop while you're there)-- it's about the best souvenir and memory aid you can get. You will get all the original photos that they think turned out okay (we had a photog try a night shot that didn't get include;, am sure it was too dark and blurry). Most of them will be great shots, especially if you cooperate and ham it up! Most of the photographers do a really good job (but of course, working with people, there will be some shots that don’t look as good as you might like).

The photogs will be in several key locations -- just look for people in costume with a large camera. You can get a new card (free) from any of them -- after you have a card, you just hand the card to them before you pose. Be sure to get it back! You can also combine cards, if you end up with more than one -- write down the numbers of them on something you will not lose -- then you can still get the CD and get to your site online if you lose a card.

They will take individual and group shots for you if you ask, or just pose that way, taking turns -- it's a treat for me to actually be in some of our photos now --since I've always been the family photographer.

If you do a pose with Simba (AK), Tinkerbell (MK) or Stitch (MGM) those photos will be on the CD (you can ask if/where they do that -- it usually involves holding your hands out) -- they're really cute.

The photogs will be in front of the parks with characters sometimes, at "vista" locations near the entrance -- and at character stops. They will not be with all the characters, even in the group character areas. They do not do ride photos, and the photos taken at the Water Parks and rides (i.e. Splash Mountain) are not included on the CD (at least so far, but the system keeps being improved). Added note: saw a post recenlty that said they have started testing putting the ride photos on – with the one at Test Track – hopefully more will soon follow.

They, or a CM will also take a photo with your camera (but their photo will probably be better). Sometimes there are lines, esp. for popular or “rare” characters, and in Toon Town, buy some places the lines are short and /or move fairly quickly. Camp Minnie-Mickey tends to have longer lines.

The photos on the CD are high resolution so you can get nice enlargements, and/or do your own enhancements at home. Okay, here's the sneaky tip -- you can add the enhancements to your online photos and use print screen and cropping to get low-res versions of them that are okay for scrapbooking, etc. -- but, by all means, if you're there a few days or more, get a lot of PhotoPass pics taken and buy the CD.

Don't wait 'til the last minute to go get the CD; they are available now at each park -- even if you get a couple taken after you get the CD -- that you'll only have online, you'll still be assured of having gotten the CD in time (the lines will be short to nonexistent in the afternoon). You can look at your photos without buying in the Parks, then you can see if you want to go back and redo any (if you have time).

And, no, I have no "interest" in pushing the PhotoPass system -- I just really love it a lot! If you are a photographer, and there's no line, it's fun to talk with the photogs, also -- sometimes I even take their picture!

The online site for print photos ($12.95 for 5x7) is different than the site to order CD.

TLHB70 - I'm so glad you asked this question. We haven't been to Disney since they started the PhotoPass system so I had no idea how it worked. We leave for Disney in 38 days and everyone's response have been very helpful.

"Say Cheese!"

One question though. Where do u get them printed after you buy the cd??

we have been home for a week, had 269 pix on our photopass and just ordered the CD from home! So its fine to order from home, use it as much as u can cus some photogs are better than others, :Pinkbounc so some pix are poorly composed while others are fabulous!! DO it for sure! Get diff photopass ppl to take pix of u as much as poss, we had it done in front of the castle as a group of 5, then ten feet later did it again with different photog, then 15 more feet did it over again just to have choices,we did this every morning last week cuz mornings are when we looked best so we wanted the best pix we could get! Love em!

take cd to wallmart, kmart wallgreens etc for prints, disney gives u a copyright waiver so u can print AS MUCH AS U WANT as long as u paid the $99 s to buy it!
