We were just talking with friends about possibly going to WDW over Thanksgiving. For those who've been at that time - a few questions ... are Christmas decorations all up? How are crowds? Are the pools warm enough for swimming?

We traveled with same friends 2 years ago for Halloween so I'm really thinking this is a trip I'd like to do. And I have ALWAYS wanted to see WDW Christmas decorations -- is Thanksgiving weekend to early to see them?

Pop onto this thread. It will have all the info you might like to know........

Crowds I've read our large at MK on Thanksgiving Day. I don't think I've seen an absolute answer on the swimming part...but the CM's I've talked to tell me it is still warm weather in FL in Nov as opposed to here in the Northeast.

The decorations will be up and it's a great way to get into the holiday spirit. Crowd levels are high and if you don't have your reservation for Thanksgiving dinner, you might want to see what is available and take what you can. You will need a reservation to get into any table service place that night.

People are always in the pool and they are heated so it's up to you.

Personally, I'd rather be at Disney World for Thanksgiving than with the family. It's just much more relaxing.

This is the BEST time to go to Disney, in our opinion! Yes, the decorations are up and you are really put into the holiday spirit! Santa is even at Downtown Disney for photos - really good photos I might add! Thanksgiving at Disney is becoming an annual event for us. You'll love it! :wizard:

That's a very good point :teeth:

The Xmas decorations start going up in early November. We are usually there for Jersey week. There's enough up to get you excited!

Swimming ... depends on how hot it is. It can get to be sweatshirt weather sometimes.

mmcq - thanks for the link to the thread about Thanksgiving. Lots of info that I needed.

So...can I expect even the resorts to have Christmas decorations up by Thanksgiving (Nov 23rd)? :santa:

Definitely! Last Thanksgiving we weren't brave enough to go to any of the parks on Thanksgiving Day so we spent the day touring the resorts to see all the different Christmas decorations, just spectacular!

The first night of MVMCP is 11/13 I believe so all lights/decorations will be up before then.

Oh yeah, the decorations are all up by Thanksgiving. In fact, the resorts usually will have them up before the parks.
