Please tell me about Houston in October...

We are planning a trip to Houston in early Oct... (actually Pearland)... I would love to know about the weather, things to do with a 6 year-old, etc.

In October it is usually still quite hot. Late October we may start getting a little cooler weather. From Pearland it is not far to NASA. That would be a good place to visit.
