Please tell me about Dinosaur

No drops but you ride in a big vehicle (think oversized Jeep or Humvee) and it does get bouncy like you are off-roading. There are parts where you turn kind of quick or the vehicle is going over very uneven terrain. That’s what makes it jerky.

When we sit in the last row and especially if it's just the two of us it does feel like I get tossed around a bit!

I love Dinosaur. I think it's a fun ride and even better when you have fun people in the car with you. We cheer and play along with the story line. People yelling "get us out of here!!!" and stuff.

Here's us last October in the last row - the people in front of us were awesome, we laughed the whole time. :)

Dinosaur has no real "drops" like a roller coaster. It does drop a few times, but not like you'd think.

Yes, it is very jerky in it's motion. You get tossed around quite a bit. It's supposed to mimic driving over extremely rough terrain, but it's really magnified. I love it, but it's definitely a bouncy ride.

One of our favorite WDW pictures over the years is of the other people in our car on this ride years ago. You've never seen a more frightened look on faces in your life! We laugh every time we look back on it.

I thought the first half of Test Track was much jerkier than Dinosaur. For me, the jerkiness on Dinosaur seemed to stem more from the fact that the twists and turns were in the dark, so you couldn't anticipate them.

I have a love/hate relationship with this ride. I love the story, the set up, the theme, and all that of the ride. I HATE how jerky it is though to the point where I did not ride it on my last trip. I will go on it this trip since my friend has never seen it and I want to experience it with her, but I already have my pain pills ready.

Dinosaur is, by far, the ROUGHEST indoor ride at WDW.
(Space Mtn. is right in there, but not for the ENTIRE ride!)

It's certainly "tied" for the absolute LOUDEST
bellowing sound effects.

And there is nothing that comes close in the category of
"Pitch-blackness...
then FULL-BRIGHT LIGHTS illuminating
GIANT DINOS with razor-sharp spiked teeth
LUNGING out straight AT YOU
with DEAFENING-ROAR sound effects."

Then,
more VIOLENT shaking,
jack-rabbit ACCELERATION,
sudden hard BRAKING...
and REPEAT.

All that said, I really ENJOY riding this attraction, and do so every trip.

Dinosaur is based on the same ride technology that is used on the Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye ride at Disneyland.

I thought it was rough and jerky for a WDW ride. I know some people like that though!

I have been to DL once, and I knew this tidbit beforehand. I tried not to scream out "right! left! right! left!" at the appropriate times :) Going on May 29th again! WOOOOO

Years ago my mom and I test rode dinosaur with old school fastpasses while my bad back dad and 5 yr old daughter waited. It was a definite no for them to ride when we got off. It is the jerkiest ride I have ridden at Disney. My brother told my dad Indiana Jones at DL was smooth and it threw my dads back out. We didn’t at the time realize it was the same ride vehicle (until my mom and I test rode it). On the upside Mom and I got to re-ride with my dad and daughter’s fast passes. My teen can’t stand that ride to this day (now 14). It is loud and dark and rough. She keeps her eyes closed the whole time. Her goal this summer is to try to open her eyes on it (even a little bit) if we ride again.

It does shake you around. I am a lover of thrill rides, but I just don't like this ride. I tried it once and didn't care for it. We decided to try it again last year, but still didn't care for it all. I don't mind being shaken or being turned upside down or going around and around or being dropped from high places but the bottom line is that I just don't find this ride to be any fun. That's just me.

I hate all rides with drops and anything resembling a roller coaster, but I love Dinosaur! I don’t mind the jerky “off roading”. One of my favorite rides at AK!

I hate drops and won't do any of the roller coasters or Splash, but I love Dinosaur! The drops are shorter than Pirates'. They make me scream, but they are over before I know it. I wear ear plugs and take Advil before I ride :)
