Lorelai just posted that Breakfast @ Kona Cafe is a must do.

Since he/she isn't taking PMs, can anyone tell me about it? We have a choice between All-Star and the Poly for breakfast.

If it just us big kids, obvious choice; but we have 7 kids (5-11). Is it fast? Kid friendly? Reasonably priced? Do you need an ADR and do you think we could get one 8 days out? Thanks DISers!

It depends on what you're looking for - they're two very different breakfasts...

The AS is a food court, quick, very kid-friendly, but has pretty standard breakfast fare (although the breakfast pizza is fantastic! Pizza crust with sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, cheese and bacon on top!). :earseek: Easier on the pocketbook.

Kona is a full-service restaurant. Not quite as kid-friendly, but still has plenty of options that should please them (like banana-stuffed french toast). :teeth: More expensive, but not over-priced (keeping in mind that you're at Disney World). Oh, and yes, the coffee is much better here!

You might check http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm#res for a look at the menus of both choices...

Good luck with your decision!

4 words TONGA TOAST and BIG KAHUNA

Tonga Toast for my wife and The Big Kahuna for me (DS has Mickey Pancakes)

I LOVED breakfast at the Kona Cafe'. Really enjoyed it and would definitely do it again. Food was delicious and coffee was great. Service was really good. It was very relaxing. We had a nice view of the atrium/waterfall as we dined. We had a PS for 7:45a, but really didn't need it. We were staying at another WDW resort at the time -- not the Poly (can't remember which one -- we visit a couple of times a year. We made the PS to make sure we could get in -- wouldn't hurt to make one. I hear WDW is much busier this time of year -- keep that in mind.) As we were finishing our breakfast at approx. 8:45a, more people were coming in. I had the Macadamia Nut Pancakes (very good). My husband had the Big Kahuna platter (I believe). Portions were huge and prices were very good (I had breakfast this week at Denny's and was shocked at their prices. Wow, did they go up! Kona's were $8-10 pp - depending. Kids were less.) My kids had the kids meals and they were fine. If I can fit it into my next trip (in 8 days for MNSSHP weekend), we'll be there!! Matter of fact, your post just sparked the idea -- thanks! We did this on our last day and drove our car over -- nice way to end the trip. If you have the Disney Dining Experience card, you'll receive 20% off your meal -- Kona Cafe' participates in the program. Enjoy! :wave2:
