OK - This will be my husbands birthday dinner, but it will be during our family vacation - so our 2 little girls (who will be 3 & 5 1/2) will be with us. We will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge.

So, what I need is a great restaurant where my kids would be comfortable & is convienient to the Wilderness Lodge. My husband & I both enjoy all types of food, so that is not an issue.

Any suggestions out there? :teeth:

What about 50's PTC at MGM? You could slip a note to the greeter to let them know it's DH's birthday and he might wind up being the center of attention in your "kitchen" for dinner! The children should enjoy the antics there, also.

Another good option is Liberty Tree Tavern at MK for dinner. It's a character dinner and the food is de-lish! (Well, all 'cept the mac and cheese -- sorry, Stouffers, but it's just not my style.)

A third suggestion is RainForest Cafe, either at AK or DTD. The atmosphere is great and it's likely everyone can find something they like on the menu.

Thanks for the suggestions, but i'm really looking for nice restaurants that are closer to the Wilderness Lodge. LTT is close, but we will be going there 2 nights prior to DH's birthday! ;)
Can't wait, by the way, because we have never been...

I would think that either of the restaurants at WL (Artist Point or Whispering Canyon) would fit your criteria.

Artist Point is my favorite restaurant. My DH and DS's also enjoy it very much. They have a cool dessert for kids, an edible puzzle that they can "paint". We have been there many times with DS and he has always been comfortable there.

Ohana at the Poly is very kid friendly. We go there before the fireworks and request a window seat.

1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian is a character buffet. I also love Narcoosee's.

The great thing about WDW is there are so many restaurants in your area to choose from and all (except Victoria and Alberts) are used to serving children.

Can you tell me about Narcoosee? We have never been there. Do you see kids there often?

What about the CG at the CR? You can book ressies to be dining while viewing fireworks at the MK. They lower the lights and pipe in the music. Great way to celebrate a B-day!

Narcoosees (when we went, which was years ago) is casually romantic - the kind of place where (if it weren't Disney World) you would see high schoolers in prom formals, hip couples in jeans and families out "special".

We didn't have kids at the time, so I wasn't kid aware, but the restuarant is noisy, so the average kid (and parent) should be comfy. I do remember seeing some children. And I'm looking forward to going back - it was definately a "do again."

My husband had great things to say about Artist's Point, but said we wouldn't be comfortable with OUR three year old there (actually, our two year old, who is much noisier and tantrum prone, our three year old can handle fancy pretty well - although both of them have problems with the concept of "inside voices"). I think a busy night at AP would be OK, but when he went the restuarant wasn't busy and was very quiet.

You might want to consider CRT for dinner. The kids will be thrilled to be eating at Cindy's and we find the food very good. You might even get to see the Fairy Godmother or Cindy herself while you wait for your table!

There were quite a few tables with children at Narcoosee the last time we dined there. My DS enjoyed it. The view of the castle in the evening is very pretty. My DH had the tuna and really loved it.

I think AP would be a good place. It's nice and the food is great, but it's not "stuffy." I think it's appropriate for children. Maybe you could ask for a table off to the side if you think your children might cause a fuss?

I agree with Jxsmom - 1900 Park Fair is VERY kid and user friendly and it's a character dinner and it's close and it's in the most picturesque hotel in all of WDW! As for Narcoossee's - while I have seen some children there, they tended to be older. I was told by a GF CM that younger children get bored there.

Whispering Canyon in WL is VERY good and also convenient to your stay.

Another great place is Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary - GReAT food, character meal, but hard to get ressie's.

Hope this helps. Have a great stay!

Artist Point was very nice, but I thought it was a little quiet, so raised children's voices would be noticeable. Narcoosees was one of the better meals we had in WDW - also, it seemed a little busier, more bustling, and there were more families there than Artist. Not as quiet, but kids voices would blend right in. Also, if you eat later, you could always go down to the beach area and watch the electric water parade. I think it starts around 9:30, but may be sooner in the winter months. Fireworks at the castle follow after.

We enjoy both dining options available at the WL and we have kids. Artist Point is much more high end and WHispering Canyons Cafe is just a hoot! Check out www.wdwig.com for menus to see what you think. Your children would be more than comfy at both of these and it would be right at your resort.

My fav. resturant for a bday dinner is Ohanas at the Poly!! They have games for the kids, excellent food, and they bring you a cupcake and all the servers come over and sing happy bday in hawaiian! We've gone for dh's bday 2 yrs in a row and will go this yr too.

If your kids can be well-behaved at a decent restaurant, I would say Artist Point. The food is great, they are friendly to kids and have special treats for them. But it's not the kind of place where you can let them run loose.

Whispering Canyon IS that kind of place, but the food stinks and it wouldn't make for a very special birthday dinner.

Hello hoosll

What is it about Hoop de doo that makes it so special for a birthday.

We will be at WDW during my DW 40th B'day and I am looking for a fun place to celebrate.

I LOVE Narcossees! It's pretty casual, the view of the lagoon is relaxing, and the food is really good!

Hoop-Dee-Doo is also a great choice. We've been there twice this year, and I'd definetly do it again (nope, don't have it scheduled for my trip next month!).
