Anyone else on the South Beach Diet?

What are some SBD-friendly meals, snacks, etc at WDW?

I was thinking of the following:
-Lighthouse Sandwich at CHH (hold the slaw)-I *think* it's on whole wheat bread?
-Tandoori Chicken at Sanaa
-Chicken Shwarma Platter at Tangierine Cafe

Anything else? Please share any CS, TS, Snacks, whatever-thanks!!!:goodvibes

I think basically if you leave off the bun and stay away from the obvious like popcorn and churros, focus on salads and meat, you'll be fine. :goodvibes

Actually it's a bit more complicated than that.

OP: Stay away from most sauces and dressings-they typically contain sugar. Ask for these things on the side or none at all. All TS sit down restaurants will be able to accommodate you and I *think* most CS restaurants can accommodate you as well. Soy sauce is fine, salsa is fine, oil and vinegar and Caesar dressing are fine for salad dressings.

Most buffets have salads (again, stay away from sauces and dressings), they typically have a baked chicken (peel off the skin), veggies, carved ham or meat.

Obviously stay away from pasta and if you order a deli meat or grilled chicken sandwich, just don't eat the bread.

Choose no sugar added desserts (most restaurants have them). If you are on Phase 2, choose fresh fruit, but avoid the pineapples & watermelon.

I always find breakfasts to be very easy in WDW. Scrambled eggs and breakfast meats become my best friends!

Oh-most stores that carry yogurt also have no sugar added yogurt. Some places also carry hummus and veggies.

**That all said, I would love to hear from people about specific dishes at WDW that are naturally low carb or SBD friendly without having to make too many modifications!!!

Anyone have any specific dishes or restaurants that are naturally SBD friendly?:confused3

This probably won't be much help as I'm not familiar with the South Beach diet, but I am familiar with diabetes, both type 2 (my grandma is a type 2 and she travels with us frequently) and gestational (that'd be me!). All of the WDW restaurants we've been at will accomadate and make substitutions for those with diabetes (baked potato instead of fries, extra portion of veggies instead of a carb side, holding white bun on hamburger and substituting whole wheat roll, etc) so if you make your needs known with the south beach diet, they'd probably be able to work with you.

Hope this helps a little.

I can only think of one truly low carb meal at WDW and that would be the turkey leg. :)

I have been doing SB for a few years and have have had some success in getting rid of, at last count, 150#'s.

I think the trick is find an eating plan, do not like the word diet, that you can live with for the rest of your life.:thumbsup2

When at WDW I do not stay strictly low carb and have never come back weighing more than when I left thanks to all that darned walking and not being hungry when I am happy and busy talking to folks. If I have a hamburger I take off the top bun and eat it that way. I love the flourless chocolate cake at Starring Rolls and it such a small, but satisfying portion. Some of the salads and trick you so use the dressing, blue cheese is lower in carbs usually, on the side and dip your fork in and then pick up the lettuce trick and that helps.

Buffets are the easiest because you can fill your plate, pick a smaller one, with whatever your particular diet requires.

Good luck and have fun!

Cheese plate at any restaurant (minus the jams of course)

Surf and turf at Narcoosee's (with veggies instead of potato side)
