Hope he will be ok

It's not looking great after all. While Sebastian has no signs of brain injury, he would require surgery on his left leg for a hip joint issue, surgery on his right leg for a ruptured ACL and possibly on his right ankle - they're not sure if they're dealing with a ligament issue or many small fractures in his ankle. He'll be eleven in January and I just don't know if all of that surgery and recovery time would be good on an old dog. He's been such a good dog, always easy to take care of even as a puppy and it breaks my heart that I think I know that this will have a terrible ending. It would almost have been easier if the vet called today to say that he wasn't "with it" but he's as alert as you could be and I just don't know what to do. With the positive news from last night I told the kids this morning were he was and that he would probably be okay, but now...I'm absolutely sick over this whole thing. I'm waiting on a phone call from our vet and I just hope that he is brutally honest about whether Sebastian could handle this much surgery. Thanks again for all of the good wishes.
Unfortunately, Sebastian has had another setback. The vet said his pupils are now uneven again and it could be a sign of brain damage. With that, the ACL, the hip joint and they found out that he does indeed have a broken ankle, we had to make the very difficult decision to let him go.We just can't see letting him suffer. These surgeries would be drawn out over several days or weeks and the recovery would be hard on any dog, let alone an older dog. I want to say thank you again to all of you. Your support has meant a lot.
Now I need to think about happier things. It's been a long day.
