A few questions from a fellow teacher:
Is your position definitly being terminated, or were you just given notification of possible termination so the school complies with notification laws? I know many teachers who recieved the dreaded pink slip "just in case" their position had to be eliminated the next school year, and they never lost their jobs. Always made for a few tense months though.
It seems odd to me that your position is being eliminated in the middle of the semester. Have you spoken to your union rep. to make sure that everything is being done correctly?
Everything will be fine, and yes you should still go on the cruise! Good teachers will always find a home!![]()

I have a very unique teaching situation. I work for a public school district and am contracted out to an auto plant to run a skills center and teach computer classes (hence no semesters). Well, as the big 3 are trying to find ways to cut money, one of their ways was to cut our program. They have to give us a 30 day notice and with that they can terminate our contract. We were somewhat grateful they gave us 60 days. So everything is on the up and up. Thank you for the words of wisdom though.
Oh, and we are most definitely going on our cruise. That thought never crossed my mind. I was just having a tough time getting in the spirit of Disney. But as one of our fellow DISers reminded, this is just a minor stumbling block. As they say, this too shall pass.
