Please say something nice about RP!

Debbie7452 the selection sounds better than the HRH's club level last summer. We were pleased with it because we had been upgraded but I would have been dissappointed had I paid rack rate. From your description the RPR's sounds better, can you give examples of the evening h'orderves? Dessert buffet??? At the HRH they had cookies and milk, of the 4 nights there my kids got 1 choc. chip cookie to split and that was it!@! And they would wait for the cookies to come out.

Hi, glad to help. I wish I had actually gone to the dessert buffet! My daughters ran over there and brought some plates back so I can tell you what they picked. There were cookies, little creme puff things, and a decadent chocolate cake. They told me there were also more choices. Everything was very gourmet tasting, yummm! I wonder if they had evening cordials out but I don't know. I can't believe I didn't step over there, I was just so TIRED!

I did visit the evening snack spread. The hot stuff was beautiful but the two nights we went it was very sea foody...not our thing. I believe there was some raw tuna thing (sashimi?) or sushi. Maybe some shrimp, too. Sorry, I can't remember because we just looked, saw it was sea food and walked away. It looked great for people who eat that stuff. A lot of it had an Asian influence.

We definitely need another (educated gourmand) opinion from someone!! Please report back everbody!

We just returned from a 5 night stay on the club floor of the RPH - Here is the typical schedule for the club lounge:

7-10:30 am - pastries, fruit, coffee, teas, juice, cereal, muffins, bagels and assorted toast. Selection was big enough for everyone to find something they liked, but don't expect bacon and eggs. This is a continental breakfast.

5-7:30? - Appetizers - they would have ONE hot appetizer each evening such as tuna (rare w/ sesame seeds), chicken pasta salad, chicken dim sum (similar to chinese dumplins) and beef reuomolade(sp.). They also offered chips with salsa and guacamole (sp.), assorted cheese and crackers and fruit.
They also offered complimentary beer and wine - mixed drinks were $5.00.

8-9:30? - Dessert. Again, they would offer one larger dessert such as fudge browines or lemon bars but it was mainly just assorted cookies - nothing great in my opinion but enough to satisfy your sweet tooth.

After the dessert bar closed the club would stay open for beverages until 10:00.

They always had bottled water available and usually bottled juices and soft drinks.

Please let me know if you need more information and I will try to provide it.

Just a couple other things you might want to know...

The club lounge is on the 7th floor of Tower 3 - you must have a special room key to activate the elevator to the 7th floor.

The rooms are the same size as regular rooms. Our rooms had one king and pull out sofa.

The lounge is open all day for beverages (not alcoholic) but serves food only during specified times.

The concierge will make reservations and such and handle other requests as needed.

Hi Liz,

We will be staying at RP Club floor the end of this month for 3 nights. My question is did you have any problems with the air conditioning keeping the room cool at night? Others have said the thermostats are motion activated at all the hotels at Universal and the rooms tend to get very warm at night. Thanks for your post above with great details about the Club lounge food offerings. All in all, did you enjoy your stay at RP?

RobinLyn:D

You didn't ask me but...we had no problems whatsoever with room temperature. We were always comfortable in our room and never needed to adjust the thermometer. Thanks to Lizal for the more detailed food report.

everyone for the wonderful responses to my
question - and especially the Club Level
information. YES, we are now looking forward
to our stay at RP. Anyway, who in the world
can beat FOTL access to rides. I'm considered
the "wimp" of the family but do love
Spiderman and King Kong (which I better
ride many times!). THANKS AGAIN DISers!

RobinLyn,
We did not notice an increase in temperature during the night, however, we did notice that the thermostat was turned up after we returned from the parks but we thought that the maids had done that. Don't know if this is any relation, but the rooms across the hall had a small box with an annoying green light above the bed - don' know if this was the motion sensor for the temp? We did not have this in our rooms.

We really enjoyed our stay! Our 9 yo son liked the play area at the pool better than our trip to Blizzard Beach!!

Haven't been on the boards much since I got home so i don't know if anyone posted about the fire alarm problem. Some kids set it off in all 3 towers on 8/1 and it took them 1hour and 20 minutes to get it turned off! This was from 1-2:20 am. The sound was deafening and we had to sit out in the hall. Needless to say, there were some pretty angry guests the next morn. They compensated everyone by giving them 50% of the nights stay. Great for us since we had 2 rooms!

I will be happy to answer any other questions about the club floor. These boards were a big help in planning our trip!

We were at the RPR on the 11,12,13 July for 3 nights.
Entertainment rate $109 for pool view. Loews first member(free) upgraded to suite.
The suite was great really nice, staff very helpful better than disney. We ate there one night Ok had a meal at hard rock hotel very good.
Short walk to the parks and city walk. FOTL best thing ever invented.
No problems with parking and no charge.
My daughter presented her report card and got Loews Grade A student privl. ie free drinks with meals for her and free desert plus free coffee for us.
DD 9 loved the pool and water squirt area, also tried pool at HH.
We really enjoyed our room, and our stay in general would definitely go back especially if I can get the rate and the suite.

If any more info required let me know

Regards

Phil

Hi Phil, Sounds like you had a great time. I'm going in October and have the Loew's First card but how did you go about getting the suite upgrade? Did you just ask? Thanks!

I had already given my Lowes first number prior to arrival.

On arrival asked if upgrade was possible and it was.

Suite was really nice. Also gave details of choice of Newspaper and free gift. Chose wine and a recieved a good Chardonay.

Also at time of registration asked for Grade A student programme for DD with benefits previously mentioned.

Have to say we stayed at Boardwalk and Beach Club on the same trip(vaction Club members) but found the staff and service at RPR to be superior.

Any more info required?

Phil
