Please! Resort Help Needed!

If we did stay deluxe (or in a villa), it would most likely be in the Epcot area (Epcot and DHS are my family's favorites, even though mine is still MK :sad2:). Would you recommend BW/BWV or BC/BCV?
I would go with the Boardwalk Inn or Boardwalk Villas because they have a great theme and atmosphere, especially during the evening when all the acts are performing along the Boardwalk. Plus in terms of distance they are the closest resort when walking to Hollywood Studios.

personally, we love BWV. pick it every time. although, if you're pricing it out, do it for preferred view because its VERY rare to get a standard (far fewer of them, but still very nice from what I hear). I just adore being on the BW, but if a pool is a top priority, consider BC for stormalong bay. I personally don't have a preference, and the BW pool is still great IMO. I've heard the BCV location is a bit less than ideal compared to BWV (never stayed villas at BC, but we did a week at YC a couple years ago). Also, since MK is important to you (and is still my favorite at 21), the buses are a bit better at BWV in my opinion, just because they're first on the loop so you have a better chance of getting seats (i've never had an issue in summer crowds, but some people care about that fact). I know some people have had issues with DTD buses (and those boats are nice from certain resorts), but i've never had a problem and waited 10 minutes max for them.

as for BWV not being as nice, I think they're very well kept, they were remodeled a couple years ago. OKW and SSR are a bit too far removed and not "disney" for most of my tastes (except when i WANT the spa feel lol), but again its a preference of what "nice" means to you guys. honestly, any deluxe/villa is luxurious, as was Port orleans when i stayed there. disney just seems to have that wow factor for me, i guess :)

If you can get yourself a pin code or a good deal comes out. I would choose Yacht Club or Coronado Springs for fewer kids. We have stayed at WL and Poly and loved the both.

Three things:

1) Something I forgot to mention in last post: I know we will have to be getting two rooms. My older siblings will be sharing one room and splitting the cost of it, which is why we would need a discount to stay most likely.

2) Are the villas at BWV not as nice as the others. I just did a points calculator (comparing BWV, BCV, and BLT) and BWV was very fewer points.

3) Is anyone here an AP holder or Florida resident? My sisters are moving to Florida and plan on getting APs and I wanted to know how good those room discounts are.

Thanks again!

There BWV rooms that are fewer points have 'standard' views - parking lots/landscaping etc, while the rooms that are more points have better views - Crescent Lake, Luna Park Pool, etc.

I believe the rooms are exactly the same, the difference in points is just due to the views.

I'm a FL resident and AP holder. Typically FL residents (who are NOT AP holders) are offered room discounts of 20-40%. Depends on the season and resort type as to where in that range they fall. It's usually 3-10% deeper of a discount than offers to the general public. These discounts are usually only offered 1-3 months in advance.
Example: Right now, The FL Resident offer is through August 13, for 20% off values and moderates, and 25-35% off deluxes.

Usually AP holder rates are about 5% better than the FL Resident Rates and dates are usually the same. Oddly enough, right now, the AP rate is through August 13, but for 20% off values and mods, 30% off deluxes, and 35% off villas. Excludes AKL and Poly though.

So there's no need to buy an AP just to get room discounts if you're a FL resident.

If you will have your own transportation, the Hilton Bonnet Creek would meet your needs better than the Hilton DTD. It is very upscale and you can use your points. We have stayed at both and prefer the Hilton Bonnet Creek. I have stayed in some of the Disney deluxes and it is just as nice. :thumbsup2 If you prefer staying on property, CSR is great too.

Thanks so much! I didn't realize just being a resident had those perks. Now one more question if you could answer: When do you have to prove you are a FL resident, at booking or a check-in. And if it is at booking, can I still call Disney and ask about those rates (even if they aren't officially FL residents until August)?

Yes, I've heard a ton of great things at that resort, and it probably would be very nice (we are a bit of hotel snobs, not going to lie, but i don't think that will matter if we stay onsite at disney...), but the EMHs are just so appealing to me for some reason. I think its the fact that then we can relax during the day and take breaks and stuff and then get a ton covered at night.

Thanks for the CSR suggestion! That and POR seem to be what we are leaning towards (if we go onsite). Unless (fingers crossed) a deal comes out that makes the deluxes semi-affordable... But a good discount for the mods would definitely seal the deal on either CSR or POR

If you want to take advantage of EMH, then CSR, BWI, or AKL are our three favorite onsite hotels. You might also want to check out the Swan and Dolphin too.

My family did an all adult, winter holiday season trip a couple years ago (my DSis and I were both in our 20s at the time). We stayed in two rooms at WL and it was a big hit. IMHO, it is the best resort of all for Xmas decorations. AKL remains my fave, but both WL and AKL are a little cheaper than the other deluxes so price them out.

DBF and I did CSR last time and liked it. It had the fewest kids and best bus service of any of the 7 WDW resorts I've stayed at.

We stay at the Bay lake resort we loved it. Its alittle pricey but a really stay.

First off I am going to make sure my twin boys harass you guys! For real though, here is what I am understanding. You do want to stay on property but not at one thmed with little kids pr really with too many. Ok , got that
Then mention you can stay for free at the Hilton. Well here is what I would do. If money is the main issue, you would no go wrong at that Hilton and not too many children will be there and it will not be in a Disney.

I went there for years when i was your age and the place we liked the best were the Epcot Hotel like, Beach Club, Boardwalk, or Yacht Club. It has a much different feel to it and not very Disney but very nice. Given your ages there should be many other people your age and you are also close to Epcot where you guys should go to watch fireworks

If the "Disney" theme isn't a big deal to you Hilton is a good choice. Being close to DTD is great for a wide variety of dining choices and entertainment. Don't miss LaNouba!
If you stay onsite at a deluxe my choice would be Beach Club. We swim all the time in Nov & Dec, and the pool at the BC is the best. You still have all the amenities of the Boardwalk area, and you couldn't be closer to Epcot. We like eating dinner in world showcase at Epcot.
If your sisters move to Florida they have to book the room(s), and although they will qualify for FL Res rates on tickets too, they can only purchase discounted park tickets for themselves...they I.D. at the gates.
Have Fun
:beach:

I love being on site-- we adore the Poly and can't wait for the Beach Club.

But you can stay at the Hilton for FREE??? And still have access to EMH?? for FREE??

Absolute no-brainer in my book.

Every dollar you save is another dollar closer to your next Disney trip.

Stay at the Hilton!

You guys all make such a good point about staying at the Hilton. If we do that we will definitely have more money to spend elsewhere. I think I'm going to start looking into that a little more.

However, I'm still hoping for a discount. If we can stay onsite at a rate cheaper (or free dining), then I think we will probably take advantage of it. I can't see passing that up when we've really wanted to stay onsite forever, just can't bring ourselves to pay rack rate.

Most of you are saying the Epcot area, and thats what I was really leaning towards also (if we go deluxe). Glad to here that those hotels are nice. Thanks!
