Please Remember on April 16th

On April 16, 2010, please take a few moments out of your day and focus your thoughts and prayers on the victims of the tragic shootings that took place at Virginia Tech three years earlier. Thanks for taking a moment to honor the memory of the 32 students and faculty members we lost. Their families are still coping with loss, and the survivors of that horrible day continue to deal with what they went through and how it forever changed their lives.

But us Hokies tend to focus on the good...so we pull together on this day every year and find strength in each other. We celebrate the university - the community - the people - we love. I'm so proud of my fellow Hokies and so thankful for everyone who has supported the Virginia Tech community through all of this.

I was able to visit the beautiful campus of VT last summer for a few days. Blacksburg is gorgeous.

I will take a moment tomorrow to reflect on the lives lost.

We remember. Our niece was graduated from VT that year and we went to the ceremony. It was a sad weekend.

I remember that day like it was yesterday. I will take a moment today and say a prayer for those that were taken too soon and for their families, friends, and loved ones that keep their memories alive.

Thanks for the reminder and especially for posting the victims' names/pics. I was there as part of a crisis care response team in the few days following and was so touched and impressed by the students' ability to pull together. We had friends on campus as well (one of whom will be graduating in a few weeks) so we were really scared for their safety at first. Our prayers are with the families of the victims this day.
