Has anyone stayed somewhere they'd like to recommend (or recommend against) which meets the following?

DD12 and I would like to stay someplace very near the WDW parks. arriving sat. january 15 for 7-8 nights (includes MLK weekend).

we will have a rental car and an electric scooter (ECV).

would like a fridge and microwave (toaster/range top would be a plus, too) because we are really watching pennies on this trip.

a pool would be nice, but not a necessity.

important that the place be clean and in good repair. we're generally comfortable at AAA-rated 3 diamonds.

have a budget of only about $350 for hotel (including taxes) which works out to about $39-44 per night.

sounds impossible--i'm dreaming, i know. but IS it possible that it could be done?

if so, where would you recommend?

thank you so much for your help and advice. once you make the decision to stay off site, there are hundreds of options and it really is mind-boggling.

The Fairfield and the Spring Hill in the Marriott Village offer this. I am not sure what the rates are but there have been discounts. Great location and the hotels are very nice.

Try looking at skyauction.com

We got a 2 bedroom with full kitchen, washer/dryer and dishwasher for $300 a week tax included...

Very nice places to choose from. They sell off time-share weeks that are going to be empty. Best part is that you don't have to do a timeshare presentation...(but you can if you want to).

Definitely check Skyauction, especially their Ready-Set-Go auctions. We are staying in a 2-bedroom, 2-bath unit in November for $261/week which is under $38/nite.

Also, we were happy with the Days Suites at Old Town. Rates start around $40/nite, but the condos are definitely nicer.

thanks everyone,
i've been visiting the skyauction website a lot lately, trying to get a handle on how it's done. i'm pretty sure that'll be the way we end up affording this trip.

any recommendations for a nice place that might come up on skyauction that is VERY NEAR wdw?

any tips for how to get the best price? should i be looking now for january 2005, or should i be holding off for a few months (as if i could really...).

don't know if this comes up on sky auction..but Caribe Royale is wonderful. Great pools, restaurants..huge rooms. We loved it there.

Try HotelKingdom.com. We got a 2br for $85/night at New Years with a full kitchen. You could see what they had that was smaller and cheaper.

Do you know anyone who has a timeshare and exchanges through Interval International? If you do, ask them to send you on a 7night/8day getaway to a resort in Orlando/Kissimme area. You don't have to do any presentations because the person who sent you already has timeshare. And the rates are cheap!
