Hello ****, Thank you for contacting Disney Vacation Club. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us regarding the glassware changes in our studios. We continually review the cleaning practices in our resorts. Upon reviewing the dishware and glassware washing process for the studio units, we realized that hand washing wasn't sufficient to meet our cleanliness standards. Glassware and ceramic mugs in the studios were replaced with disposablesbecause dishwashing machines are not available in those units. We wanted to take action quickly and using disposables was the most expedient solution. We have since determined that we will be able to provide glassware and ceramic mugs at resorts where glass washing equipment is available. This includes Disney's Beach Club Villas, Disney's BoardWalk Villas, TheVillas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas and the Inn rooms at Disney's Vero Beach Resort. For all DVC stand-alone campus properties (Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, Disney's Old Key West Resort, Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort and the villas at Disney's Vero Beach Resort) that do not have glass washers available, we will continue to utilize the disposable cupsuntil we can source a more environmentally friendly product. We are investigating the possibility of installing glass washers at specified locations throughout the stand-alone campus properties. The disposable cups are replenished upon request. If a Guest/Member calls to request glassware, we will provide it and remove it upon checkout. Your comments are important to us. Semi-hurrah? At least for the people who get glassware soon. It sounds like we'll all get glasssware back - at some point.

It sounds like they're at least trying to sort it out, and that our comments DID make a dent.

So, if I read correctly, we can call and request glassware/mugs and they will be given ONLY by request? Can we also request a bottle of dishsoap with that?? Will be at SSR in 5 days and would like to have this, if possible!
 
Way to go everybody!! Big thanks to all who sent emails (yes I did this too) and letters, faxes, etc. This shows the power of numbers. Great job all! :goodvibes
 

Personally, I find the note from DVC to be very positive. It does sound like they are trying to make a difference from both a health perspective as well as an environmental perspective. And while I do try to be as environmentally responsible as possible, I would rather see disposable products used than to risk getting sick while on my vacation. (Let alone getting sick, in general.)

I think it depends on where you are going, but you can request them if you are going to be at SSR, OKW or the outbuildings at HHI and VB, but they will be removed when you leave. "Yes" I think about the dishsoap as well and it's possible that will be included right at the start.

Great news for my four home resorts! Good news for the others, since you can request glassware and ceramic mugs.
 
I hope that they do find another solution for OKW and SSR soon. I don't see any reason why they cannot install the glass cleaning machines at some of the housekeeping stations, and I am very glad that you can now request the glassware instead of being told you are not allowed to have it.

It definitely seems that we have made a difference and that makes me very happy to see. I think on another level they now know that some changes are just not acceptable and we will not just lay down and accept anything they throw at us.

Well, it's a step in the right direction. I'm glad we joined in on a letter/email campaign!!! Looks like we did make a difference.

bobbi - I would definitely take a copy of that email with you.

then when you get told you can't have glasses - you can come back with the email.

I'm glad that someone else has received the same email as Bobbi. Since no one else had reported getting the same (or a similar) email (and I know I didn't get one), I was beginning to wonder if the issue had really been addressed or if they were just trying to placate a squeeky wheel (Bobbi, admit it, you know you squeek!! ;) ).
 
Just received the same e-mail! Yay!

My DH was amused by my level of outrage - we've been members since Feb. 1993 and this is the first time DVC has upset me enough to complain to the big dogs. Don't mess with me and my coffee mug, LOL!

I just received the same email. I am glad the mugs and glasses are back.
 
Great news! I'm so glad they listened... can I ask - when they say you can request glasses, can they be wine glasses, do you think? I'm not sure what was supplied in the past, since this will be my 1st stay, at SSR in June. Thanks!

We have requested wine glasses from mousekeeping in the past (it was at BWV) and received them very promptly! I tipped the mousekeeper since it was a special request for something not normally supplied in the studios.
 
I just got the same message. It is in response to my first email (since it's attached). I do plan to print as we will be at the BWV next month (4/28-5/9). I'm pleased with the outcome.
 
Got my response email attached to my original email as well. Our next stays are at VWL, AKV (Concierge), and BWV, so I guess we'll be okay. I am curious how the requesting will work at SSR and OKW.
