My little sister has asberger's syndrome. I didn't just find this out. I've known this for years. but, it's frustrating. I kind of get depressed when I see my friends sibs who don't have problems. i know its mean to compare my sis to other kids. she always got picked on at her old school. none of the other kids knew something was wrong, but the asberger's made it hard. some kids (yeah i'm surprised kids, younger than my sister are saying this) ask if she's ********. then i get really mad. sometimes i pull these kids aside and tell them.

If anyone has sibs or anyone else they know like this please respond.
Even if you don't please comment.
You don't have to though.

Thanks,
Sarah Jo

My younger brother has aspergers syndrome.
I guess that it doesn't really bother me at all. It is who he is; if he didn't have it, he wouldn't be my brother.
I think he gets teased a little, but he can handle it. He has friends (who are also weird, ahaha), so him and his equally weird friends are happy. hah.
He's sweet though, and gets excited for Disney trips and Christmas and quotes Bevis and Butthead and memorizes presidents and vice presidents, and I don't think I would change him if I could.

what is it?

A high-functioning form of autism.

My younger brother has Autism, which I beleive is the same thing. He is my ultimate hero in life. He has been through so much, and have made it to all mainstream classes after many years of therapy. It is honestly really hard because alot of my freinds don't understand and get a good laugh at him, so if you ever need someone I've gone through it for a while, so just message me. My brother luckily doesn't get picked on alot now that he is a bit older, but used to have plenty. But still, he doesn't have a ton of freinds. It's really sad how people don't understand special needs or just use them for entertainment, but these kids go through so much, and will go far in life.

My brother has Autism, which Asperger's is a form of. His name is Daniel, he's 10 years old, and probably the sweetest kid I've ever met in my life. He's high functioning, meaning he can talk and somewhat hold conversations with people, which is great. I mean, he's really good in math, and he can honestly draw better than I can. No kidding. But there are times where he acts like he's 5 or 6, and that's an upsetting and annoying thing to live with with. He was diagnosed when he was about 2, and I was 7, so I've dealt with this a long time. He doesn't understand "no" very well, and he can barely wait for anything. Those are his two biggest weaknesses right now. As for people making fun of him...right now, at this age, everyone LOVES him, and he's so lucky. I'm worried that when he grows up, people will judge him right away. But for now, he has tons of friends (mostly girls ;) ), and my friends adore him. I do get bummed when I see "normal" siblings sometimes, but I love my brother just the way he is. My mom always tells me that God or whoever is up there gave Daniel to us because we could handle him, and he was meant to be here, with us, this way :)

Im sorry but I have heard of autism but never really knew what it is? Whats the effects and stuff?

My older brother has ADHD, which is a mild form of autism. People make fun of him so much, and it makes me so furious. Do you think he chose this life? No. I alsmost punched a kid because he called my bro ********. I just dont get how people can be so mean.

My brother has Down Syndrome. But he seems to be the life of the party so to speak when he is around people, he seems to know every girl in my highschool and hes in 8th grade and 14.

There is a kid that I go to school with though that has Autism and is high functioning, not sure if it is what your sis has. But people are also making picking on him constantly, even I am guilty of this. I appears to me that the high functioning the mentally ******** person is the more they are picked on b/c it they seem to be more normal and are just a little weird, as bad that sounds. I only say this because the other kids in my school that are lower functioning than this kid are well known all around and people welcome them with open arms, and get to know them.

It does anger me to a point that people are as accepting of all mentally ********/handicap people. But then again what do you expect in todays world =/

My brother is also bald (has alopecia) on top of it, so when we are out, little kids often stare at him because of that. to me its like "what have you not seen a bald person before", and i just glare at them and they stop.

You see a persons real personality once they are around a mentally ********/handicap person, by how they treat the for the most part.

My younger brother has Asperger's syndrome. He has come a long way though. He is 17 and was just diagnosed about three years ago.
