The 3 yr olds family had turned off the door alarms, didn't have the protective fence up and the glass door was open.

Please PLEASE PLEASE watch your babies around the pool/jacuzzi

Another child drowns in Osceola; third in area in 2 days

Two children drowned today in Osceola County, a day after another died in an Orange County pool.

The latest drowning was reported shortly before 5 p.m. today when deputies said an infant died in a bathtub at a Safari International, a time share resort. The infant, who age and name are not available yet, was in the care of his aunt and her boyfriend, who were visiting from out of town.

The incident was reported at 3:19 p.m.

Earlier, deputies reported that a 3-year-old boy visiting the Kissimmee area with his family drowned today in the pool of a vacation home in northwest Osceola County.

The boy was found at the Nicki Ridge Court home at about 11:20 a.m. Deputies performed CPR and an ambulance rushed him to Florida Hospital Celebration Health, where he died a short time later, said Osceola County Sheriff's Spokeswoman Twis Lizasuain.

It was not immediately clear how long the child was in the pool before he was discovered. His grandmother, who called 911, said the boy fell into it.

The boy was staying with his parents, grandmother and other children. His name was not released.

Today's incidents are the second and third fatal drownings in two days. Isaiah Whalen, a 15-month-old boy, died in Orange County after falling into a pool during a holiday celebration. He had been in the pool for 20 minutes before relatives noticed he was missing.

Sadly this happened to good friends of ours here at home in Chicago just this past summer, their 3 year old was out of site for less than 5 minutes and was found at the bottom of the neighbors pool. Brand new pool, had no fence, alarm, etc in place yet. You MUST use the pool alarms, safety fences, etc when staying in a pool home if you have kids, and you absolutely must watch them at all times, 100% of the time!!

It's very easy to get distracted by the phone, the bathroom, the kitchen, the TV, and be gone for a few minutes more than you might think and that's all it takes. Most little kids when they go under water don't struggle or make any noise at all, they just sink, silently.

Please be careful! I posted something about this when it first happened this summer, as it hit very close to home after I attended the funeral and wake.

That is so sad. When we were at the pool home in WH with our little grandkids I was so thankful for the alarms and fence. A couple of times the 3 yr old opened the patio doors and the alarm sounded and one of us rushed to see who opened it. I know it can be a nuisance but it can also be a lifesaver.

How sad. I remember Georges thread ealier in the year :sad1:

To any families renting a pool home..........please, please, please do not turn off the alarms or leave the gate open!!!!!!

Our thoughts are with the families concerned.
