I came across this on ebay. Please read it and tell me if you think this is a scam or a crazy person or a real cry for help.

I e-mailed this person and she said they really need things like socks and toilet paper. If this is all true I would send something to them, not cash, but the items they need.

So what do you think? I just feel the need to help when I hear stories like this.

First thought that comes to mind is pyscho. First off there is no reason to pay off a medical bill with a credit card...at least in our state as long as you send them even a dollar the hospital cant do anything to you. Second if they are so in debt why keep paying the monthly fees to have the internet and have a computer? And why would her mother be responsible for her brothers medical bills?!? What does the cost of her wedding have to do with anything? It was 14 years ago at least. As for the honeymoon *shrugging* who cares not everyone takes a honeymoon. What does getting her nails done have to do with it?

Did you notice that her feedback is private. In some of her auctions she states

ANY PAY PAL PLEASE ADD A EXTRA DOLLAR, AS THEY TAKE A CUT TO ACCEPT AND ALSO A CUT TO GET

this is not true of personal accounts! Then there is the contradiction

but in some auctions she states

ALL SHIPPING CHARGES ARE FIXED AND WILL NOT BE ADJUSTED. I WILL NOT COMBINE SHIPPING CHARGES, SORRY

Sorry but there are places out there that will help families in need.....churches, the government, and other places.

Anyone can write up a sob story. And if weddings, honeymoons, nails and hairdos are so important I guess I better jump on the band wagon too. Seriously if she is in that deep of trouble she needs to get her job back or look for a new one not try to scam people.

Wow Cinders. I do see your points. But would someone scaming ask for toiletries or just cash? Could this just be someone who is in need but alittle dramatic and having a "pity party"?

I e-mailed her questioning her debt and situation. Here is her reply:

I deleted her name and address. I, like most everyone else have seen my share of hard times, but I have plenty of family. I don't know why I cre about this, I don't even know this person!

It sounds like a scam to me. Having had a c-section and knowing other women who have had them, planned and emergency, her description doesn't ring true. Especially when she said she was "98% numb" fours hours after the operation. The whole thing reads as very manipulative to me. Perhaps I am wrong and I am sorry if I am, but I don't think so.

She's got 19 credit cards!!!!!!! And isn't there some sort of rule about selling uniforms? That's just scary. I don't buy it, sounds like a scam

I dont believe that the hospital harrassed them either.....no creditor can verbally abuse you....they can call and ask for a payment and they can mail you bills but they absolutely can not harass you.

Too true. I've had 2 C-Sections and the nurses and Dr said I was up and about early so I didnt question that part.

As for mailing them those items do what you want but she could still sell those items and make money. Friday I went to several garage sales and one was a family emptying a relatives house so they were even selling partial bottles of cleaners, shampoo, shaving cream, make up......everything was for sale. If you feel the need to help someone maybe you could find someone locally that you can verify is in dire need.

since when has ebay become a place for a pity party? I also wonder how this person pays for internet and ebay fees. I'm sure if they are that destitute, surely the state/town would give them assistance where they live.

19 credit cards? The whole thing just sounds phony to me

She makes it sound as though they were broke before the baby, and yet they qualified for 19 credit cards. She says they didn't have a wedding or honeymoon, never ate lobster or prime rib. Why on earth would they keep applying for credit cards if they weren't even using them? I could see 1 or 2 for emergencies, but 19 , come on. It doesn't make sense.

Also the part about not being able to cross the road for a month after having the c-section, I had 2 sections and was walking normal by the time I left the hospital.

It makes me cry...sad part is...I don't know if it's a scam or not.. But..here's my thought..
if you have an extra outfit around the house for a baby, 8 bucks for a pack of diapers, or are an ebay person selling things too, what can it hurt you to send it to her?? If its true..it's a wonderful thing to help...if it's not..your out that item.. big deal.
I know I think "she's soo broke..but she has a digital camera, internet, etc etc".. true...some sacrifices should be first..but I know this too.. We were VERY broke at one time...and I paid my internet bill JUST to keep selling on ebay...that's how we bought groceries at times..when it was still a week til payday. I'd let my car insurance lapse, not pay a credit card bill or other things just to pay to keep my interent... Sooo...if she makes decent money on here...maybe that's her reasons...I can't doubt them.
I've emailed her...just to ask...if she has nothing to hide and is willing to do anythign as her page says.. WHY is she hiding her feedback? It doesn't look to bad by numbers..so what is she hiding there.. and I also asked her sons age now.. I'll see what she has to say and update you...but I figure..whatever..I have lots of old baby clothes that I sell on ebay..some don't sell...and they collect dust...gets it out of my way to send it to her if she needs it or not, I'm only out 5bucks shipping.

Evidently sell it on e-bay!

I think probably the best thing someone could do for her is hook her up with some social service agencies in her town.

Everyone heals at different rates and some people have complications. I know because I had problems and I didn't even have a c-section.

It is odd though to sell stuff like this on e-bay. If this story is true, they need credit counseling and to work something out with the hospital. People can make bad choices and get into trouble but this e-bay thing is strange.

Also I noticed that there were 217 auctions this morning and now only 212. None of them were suppose to end today. I bet alot of people may have alerted e-bay and theyare trying to get rid of this person???

I emailed her....and here was a portion of her reply...we've emailed several times since over the course of today..
I gave my home address, my home phoine number, pictures of my family, my bills, I GAVE EVERYTHING PEOPLE ASKED OF ME AND THEY STILL WANT MORE.....I AM JUST SICK, I DO NOT NEED MORE HURT IN MY LIFE< THERE IS NO ONE THAT HAS BEEN NICE. anyways...the emails have calmed down since I told her I wasn't against her. I can't say I'm convinced of her story..but I've offered to send clothes to them...because I have ones that we don't need anymore...and she seems sincere. like I said before...doesn't hurt me...costs me 5 bucks in shipping...big deal.

I suggested she take down her ME page because it was causing her more harm than good. If she found poeple she thought would beleive in her...approach them that way, but this was obviously not working for her.
...so..that's why her page isn't there anymore...
