I would love to hear from anyone who has stayed at Hard Rock Hotel. How did you rate your stay and why?

Very nice, kids loved the pool with its piped in rock-n-roll. Clean, good service and the xpress feature in the parks for staying on site made our stay fantastic. Also a nice walk to both parks so waiting isnt necessary.

We just returned from our trip 4/23-4/27 and our stay at the HRC was wonderful. The hotel was clean and well maintained. The loby was very nice & comfortable to sit and relax. The food was very good at the Kitchen & the Beach Club by the pool. Room #6019 a deluxe room was clean and roomy for 5 people. I absolutley loved the pool to relax & the kids loved it. The FOTL is just fabulous - my boys really enjoyed this feature. FOTL lets you go into the parks & really enjoy the hotel. We were very pleased with our stay and the staff was very helpful and pleasant. The hotel is just walking distance to Citywalks or both parks. If you don't feel like walking, you can take the boat back to the hotel. No complaints! Enjoy! :cool1:

We checked on Sun. They were obviously having housekeeping problems that day. The front desk clerk, Phil, was extremely nice and apologetic. I don't know what was happening. The hotel didn't seem crowded but at 4:00pm our room wasn't ready and there were several other guest having the same problem. I felt so bad for the front desk staff. They had quite a few irate guests. It wasn't a big problem for us we just went to the pool. Our room was ready around 5:30 we had room 6094. Good view but the room hadn't been cleaned very well. We didn't receive any toiletries and the carpet had a large sticky spot. The 6th floor hallway had a ton of housekeeping carts and piles of dirty linens on the floor. Right outside the 6th floor elevators the trash cans were overflowing. I was really surprised by this because the rest of the hotel was immaculate. We ate at the Kitchen and it was wonderful. We also had ice cream at Emack and Bolios. Yum  Even with our problems we liked this hotel. But I think next time we'll stay at PBH or RPR.

We loved it! The pool was awesome, underwater speakers, great waterslide. The actual room was nice and the employees were very nice too! :sunny:

In regard to the housekeeping carts - we did see several in the hallway, but it didn't bother us. I am a early riser - so I was up and out walking by 7:30 - 8:00 am and I can tell you they had a full staff cleaning the hallways & garbage cans. The hotel was very full last week & I think during the course of the day the "little" garbage cans by the elevators were overflowing. But by the next morning they were always emptied. Two days while we were there our room was not cleaned until 3:00 - 4:00 pm, but I didn't care as long as it was done. But this could bother some people. We checked in at about 11:00 or so and our room was ready by 2:00 pm. They called my cell phone to let us know our room was ready. I had read some horrible stories about checking in and dirty rooms & I was very nervous, but we were very pleased with our stay. :goodvibes

I rated it "A". I would have given it an A+, but there are always going to be little things that can be faulted at any resort, no matter where you stay.

The main plus points for me at the HRH (in order of importance) are:

* FOTL - An excellent perk. Your time is valuable on holiday. Who wants to wait in a 100 minute line for a 90 second ride?

* Atmosphere - The HRH has a great holiday atmosphere. What I liked was the fact that this is a hotel is not set up for huge corporate things i.e. conferences. Although you do see the occasional small group walking around in suits, they really dont bother you. The hotel staff are very upbeat too. In the 50+ nights that we have stayed at the HRH, we have never come across one bad employee.

* Pool - Has to be the coolest pool in Orlando. It is also one of the largest. Underwater sound system, cabanas, water slide, dive in movies etc etc

* Rooms - I would have put this before the pool, but we probably spend more time around the pool than what we do in the room. We have stayed in a variety of different rooms at the HRH and they have all been great. Some great little touches in the rooms like the CD players, really comfortable beds and pillows etc.

* Parks - Excellent rides. The rolls-royce of roller coasters. The best water rides, the best 3-D ride you will ever ride and the best themed park. We have been as a couple and with our 2 year old daughter and she loved every minute of it.

* Restaurants - access to 15+ themed restaurants within a 5 minute walk. we like the Hard Rock cafe, Margartiville, Mythos. We also like the kitchen (in the HRH), Emack and bolios (for ice cream in the HRH), Finnegans (USF) and the Confisco Grill (IOA).

* Proximity to parks - 5 minute walk through gate at the pool or the 10 minute water taxi. What more can I say?

I often read complaints about the HRH. They usually start, "Having come from Disney........................." then go on to complain about a terrifying experience (usually the carpets in the hallway were stained (which have now been replaced)), or the noise. The noise complaints always make me laugh, although it is a "family" resort. Did the name of the hotel not give them a clue before they booked?! Other good ones are the people that complain about the room not being ready, despite checking in before the 4.00pm check-in time.

That's not to say I have never had a complaint about the HRH. There are always going to be things that can be improved at any hotel. But I would trade a few minor niggles for the plus points listed above, any day.

Overall, I think the HRH has to be one of Orlando's best "holiday" hotels. We have stayed at a few Disney deluxes and although they are good , they simply cannot compete with Universal resorts, especially were FOTL perks are concerned. We just feel we are more suited to Universal, we get a lot more for our money and generally feel more Universal spoiled!

Wow...you've really posted alot of the reasons why our family love to stay at Universal resort hotel when we are in :sunny:

We just love the HRH. It has become a yearly tradition with our friends. There are a few bad things :

~ the walls are pretty thin. We always seem to luck out and placed by the same Loud Mouth every year. (he also goes every year :rolleyes2 )

~ The concierge food is the WORST! :scared1:. We always order food from the pool restaurant and have it brought up ;)

Other than this, you will just love the HRH! We haven't stayed anywhere else because we love the atmosphere so much.

We absolutely love the HRH too. I agree with the concierge food. I liked the breakfast, although I felt at that time, they could have done a better job of replenishment given the fact that people were practically taking the entire tray on plates and dashing for their rooms. I have to say for convenience, the breakfast was the best part of concierge. The variety of breakfast offerings was incredible...just not enough of each item. Evening menu had variety problems (variety of crackers and cheese was slim...that was all that was on the menu that night.). Night cookies were the same. A few years ago (not sure about now), the variety of cookies was a few homemade (which was being snatched up by the handfuls and not replenished) and then there were Nutter Butters and I think Oreos  For the price paid for concierge, you would think they could afford the money and time to make ALL homemade cookies AND make enough for everyone. We found it a better deal to just get room service or find another option for food in the morning. ....and stop by a snack machine at night on the way to our room for a pack of cookies. Sure hope things have changed since then.

Just returned from a 4 night stay at the HRH with DH, this was our 1st trip without the kids. This is our 3rd stay at the HRH and housekeeping left a lot to be desired this time. We left our room one day at 11am and came back at 4pm and the room was still not made up. Finally housekeeping came and only fixed up the bed, but left a huge pile of leftover plates from roomservice on the table. They cleaned our bathroom one day and took all the soap, so we didn't have anything to wash our hands with. Just not overall impressed with this visit, especially at $249/night. If we wouldn't have been on the "stay 4 play free" offer I think we would have checked out and went over to WDW. Had a great time with DH though. It was nice to have some time to ourselves.

We've stayed there twice. The first time, we were next to a group of (barely chaperoned) young teens. We had to move our room because of the noise. That could happen at any hotel. The place itself we love! So close to the parks, great pool, cool decor! On our second stay, we splurged for club level and while financially it is probably not worth the extra money it sure was nice! The only problem is that I think I'll have a hard time resisting staying on the club level next time. If you look at traveler reviews on Travelocity or tripadvisor.com you will get the entire spectrum of worst to best hotel stay ever. I hope you decide to go and that you like it as much as we did! :sunny:

We really enjoyed our stay at the HRH in March. I agree with all the positive things that everyone has said--it was beautiful and very cool for the kids. I was, however, disappointed with housekeeping. Our room was never made up before 4:00 p.m. (even though we left the room by 8:30 each morning) and it took a long time for them to clean. We were back in our room one day and left for them to clean and it took over an hour! Believe me, there was nothing extra for them to clean! I also found the housekeeping staff very loud and noisy in the hallways. My daughter had a sentimental stuffed animal she slept with each night and we forgot to take it out of the bed one day and it was gone that day. Although we reported it to housekeeping and security, it seemed there was no attempt to locate it. She is not a young child so she definitely didn't take it from the room but it was never found. I'm sure it was in the bedding, and it wasn't the value, but the toy was sentimental to her. For the price we paid ($284/night), I don't know if I would return.

It is funny how people can be at the same hotel at the same time and have different experiences. We were there from 5/6-5/9. We got a great rate of $189 for 2 nights and $159 for 1 night. We were on the 6th floor. Housekeeping was excellent. I never saw any overflowing trash cans. I thought all of the public areas were very clean and in great shape. Everyone was extremely friendly-I have never been wished a Happy Mother's Day so many times!! To me, the pool area of the Hard Rock cannot be beat. It is beautiful. We ate at the Beach Club every night. Tasty and quick. I wanted to try Club Level but I could not justify the $90 per night cost difference.

We've stayed twice at HRH. It's a beautiful hotel. Our rooms were very clean and comfortable. And the pool and close proximity to the theme parks make it our #1 choice at USF. Our only complaint was the service. One day we never got housekeeping, the other days it was very late before housekeeping came, like around 4:00 pm. It was inconvenient when you come in from a day at the parks and want to take a shower, but there are no clean towels!

One other trip we had a garden view room, which ended up being a parking lot view. I told the front desk we weren't happy looking at an a/c unit, and they switched our room with no questions asked. All in all, they did their best to resolve any problems we had.

I'd stay there again in a minute! I just wish we could get some better rates!

Perfect. The atmosphere of the resort is second-to-none, the pool is arguably the finest in Florida and the rooms are well-equipped and spacious. Our room was in perfect order, everything appearing new. Next time we are going for a Deluxe Room for some extra space, but I would not hesitate to go for a standard room again if Deluxe was not available.

The staff were incredibly friendly and IMO the same, if not better, than some of the WDW cast members. We had the friendliest guy ever show us to our room, showed us the TV, told us about the resort and facilities and gave some sweets to DD and DS's.

Furthermore, its the closest hotel to Universal Studios. I wouldn't stay anywhere else at Universal Orlando after experiencing the HRH.

we stayed at hard rock 2 years ago, this hotel is so much fun, i had a hard time leaving the pool area to go to the parks. have fun.
