I am sorry I haven't updated. Dakota is doing really well. He has been taken off the vent and icp monitor removed from his head today. If things go good tonight he will move ot of icu tomorrow to stepdown.

OMG, I agree, I have been in law enforcement and family advocate work and can not believe the women that do these things to their children, or step children.......

My heart aches, my prayers for this little boy, and pray that any man out there consider the whack step mom syndrome of jealousy that can happen.

Many step moms are wonderful great caring people, but there are far to many men, that just use these women as stand in baby sitters and should just be left with Mom, or a grandparent.

I do not really know Dakota's dad. His mom and dad were separated when he was born. I have been friends with his mom and her family for close to twenty years. They are loaded for bear.

"Loaded for bear" means "ready and eager to deal with something that is going to be difficult".

I really hope the boy is okay. Is the stepmom back home living with the dad?

Several days have passed. Can you post a link to a news article? I'd love to see the media's take on this and any interviews with law enforcement and what the exact charges are. I hope they throw the book at the stepmother.

This almost sounds like you are doubting the OP's story and asking for proof. Why not google Georgia newspapers yourself and try to find the article.

The OP stated earlier in the thread that she couldn't post a link because it was too soon after the "accident", so it seems natural that someone would ask days later if she could post a link, no? My DD emailed me that someone she knew was missing in the Pakistan floods, and I asked her if there was a news article about it, and I didn't for a minute doubt her. She didn't know, and I did google it, and I did find the article in that case.

Maybe like me she has tried to find an article and can't.

Ditto. It's a shocking story. Like I said in my previous post, I'm curious to see the media's take on this, as well as the charges against this woman. It's a tragic, but interesting case, and I'm not just walking away from the thread as if it's another DIS chit-chat thread to be forgotten. I don't get where the accusation of not believing the OP comes in.

It's a reference to being eager and prepared for a situation, usually overprepared. Like if you were going out bear hunting, you'd have lots of big guns instead of just a little pistol. I assume the OP means they are on the warpath and ready to hunt down the stepmother.

It is strange that we haven't heard anything about it on the news, Nancy Grace usually is all over stories like this, especially with it happening to a child, poor little guy.

I'm sure I'm just missing something and I'm trying to get it all together in my head. This was the stepmom, so the dad who was at work is the bio dad? But then you said you don't know the dad because they separated early on. So, who are the bio parents?
