Ds 19 is having surgery tomm. by my ent surgeon. Its going to be about 2 hours long and they said he can come home later as long as he does not have any breathing problems as he has really bad asthma. The surgeon is going to be fixing his nasal airway and sinuses etc. so hopefully he can be able to breathe through his mouth, taste food etc. TIA

luvmarypoppins,
Your DS will be in my prayers! I hope his surgery goes well and he recovers quickly and that he does not have any problems related to his asthma.
Your family will be in my thoughts! :)

Well ds surgery went as well as could be expected. There was a 2 hour delay because of the pt. in front of ds. The surgeon said he had problems. There were 58 scheduled surgeries that day. We were in at 8 am and got home about 9 pm.It was a long day. Ds surgery took 1hr 45 min. The dr. said it was worse than he expectd. He is in alot of pain, cant eat well, hates light and sound etc. etc. I feel so bad for him. I try to help him as best I can. And with the cancer and my recent stomach surgery, I am not too good of a help to him. The worst side effect is he is throwing up blood since there is so much of it in his belly due to the surgery. The surgeon said that would last about 3 days, so keep praying for him. thanks.

Thinking about you and your son.. I hope good days are coming for him and that the post op stuff will just be an unpleasant memory.. Take care of yourself as well and keep us posted.

luvmarypoppins, I hope your son is continuing to heal and feel the progress of recovery each and every day. He is in my thoughts and prayers each day...
The strength of your family amazes me, you are an inspiration!:)

Thanks for all the prayers. Yest. the 3 ds were getting ready to go to the beach and ds19 had a post op nose bleed. I insisted on taking him to the surgeon since I knew he was there. Ds insisted on going to the beach. The beach won. The other ds told me there were no more nose bleeds PTL. He goes to the surgeon on mon. but I dont think he is doing exactly what the dr. told him to do with rinsing out his nose etc. Its still so very swollen the surgeon said last week.

Sorry it's been so rough on him. Christian had this same surgery when he was about 8yo and his was also much more involved that they thought. He doesn't handle anesthesia well, so we ended up staying 24hrs due to the almost constant vomiting. Thankfully a day of IV fluids fixed that.

I will say, the nasal rinsing is crucial. It's the only way to get the old nasty stuff out of the sinuses. Christian hated it, but we had to do it(he's mentally handicapped so we had to force it on him. Not pretty.) The good news is that ever since the surgery he breathes through his nose and almost never gets sick.:thumbsup2 I hope your son has the same experience.
