Please, please, please, never, never, never change the DL Tiki Room!

It would be really sad if they took away or changed the Tiki Room!! I don't even want to think about it!:sad2:
I would be even sadder if they took away my Storybook Land Canals!! That one holds a special place in my heart! Please don't ever touch it. :sad1:

Yeah....the WDW Tiki Room is sad! Now on some other threads I am reading the Stitch version of the Tiki Room in Tokyo isnt as "popular" as they had thought it would be... so who knows, maybe this is all a Good thing that will result in the DL show coming to WDW-Orlando before 2011 as I have read in other places.

Seems to me, Under new management isnt working, and Stitch isnt the huge hit in Tokyo, meanwhile the DL show is doing great in Cali....so seems to me like the natural progression is to bring the FL show to Florida....its the only formula truly working.

The first time that I was fortunate enough to be entertained by Jose and his feathered friends, I was 9 years old, then again, at 11. Many years had passed before becoming fortunate enough again, to visit as an adult. So I did not notice, the 7 minute cut, at all. So therefore I did not miss it. If I had noticed it, I might have complained about it, though. I do remember the design of the exterior and interior of the Enchanted Tiki Room as being the exact same, from when I first saw it, many years ago, to the first time as seeing it as an adult. If that has changed at all, again, I have not noticed.
I do love the Enchanted Tiki Room, the way that it is, in its show, as well as in its theming. I even simply love tiki themes in general, too.
I hope again, that this classic, remains as it is. Now I do not think that I would have a problem with the idea of the seven minutes being brought back, for I love this show. So I would be able to remain in this wonderfully air conditioned show room for a bit longer, while being entertained a tad bit longer. :)

I just may head back to Disneyland if they promise not to change the Tiki room, the one at WDW is horrible! I miss the old song. In the tiki, tiki, tiki room, in the tiki, tiki, tiki room... ahhh, brings back memories! I love that show.

Okay, I'll probably get a bunch of things thrown at me, but... I just experienced the Tiki Room for the first time this past week, and would have to be dragged in, kicking and screaming, to see it again. I totally understand how it's cute for young kids, but as for myself, I felt like a lot of the dads in the room - "Get me the heck outta here!" or "Just kill me now!" One guy even got up and walked out. And being from Hawaii (and probably a tad touchy on the subject), I was a little bit offended when they started in on the "Hawaiian" singing, and I couldn't detect a single real Hawaiian word. I could not get out of there fast enough.

Like I said - it's just me and my age, probably. It was good to get in out of the sun, though.

according to our tour guide, she said that the Tiki room was funded by Walt himself...which is why it's the only attraction at DLR to say "Walt Disney's" at the top of the sign.

She also said it was originally a restaurant but they changed that quickly after it opened because after an hour of the dinner show, nobody had taken a bite of their food from staring up at the flowers and birds. The center island where the fountain is was originally a mechanism that was to drop into the floor. CM's would put dirty dishes in, send the mechanism down, and the kitchen would clean them and send them back up. She also said that the wake up Jose thing used to be because the show programming and such was all run from underneath the room and the guests banging their feet on the floor signaled to the CM to start the show. It is now run on two laptops she said.

She also said that some woman (I'm really sorry I don't remember who, but she was important, a relative of Walt's somehow...maybe Lillian???) said that if she came back in X number of years (she would have been 122 after whatever X years was had passed) that the tiki room better be exactly the same. Because of that, the CM said, there are no plans to change it. I'm sorry I'm forgetting details. It's late and that day I was really exhausted so I started to zone out from time to time during the tour.

I hope that gives you some interesting info. ;) what there is of it, anyway. We also got to see one of the original flowers up close and personal, named Ophelia. We got to open and close her mouth using the mechanism too. It was neat!

This is cool info! I took the walk in walts footsteps tour and got to see ophelia to but are tour guide didnt give us as much info as yours did. This is cool to know!

Of the times that I have been fortunate enough so as to visit the Enchanted Tiki Room, all of the adults expressions either had been that of awe, or they were happily singing along with the singing and music. I did not see anyone leave before the show was over. Nor did I ever witness anyone that looked bored off of their booty. Some adults (During one show or another) had a rather blank expression on their facials, so therefore, I could not read them. The way I figure it, they were just very quiet, intense people, being blown away, by the fantabulous feathered friends of Jose, not to mention Jose himself. As well as the terrific tiki's and all of their chanteuse and chanteur flowered friends.

Amen to that. WDW Tiki room causes physical pain!!!!

The TR in WDW was so bad that I konked out after a few minutes. I don't know if it was because I was so tired or if it was my body's means of protecting itself. My kids loved it, if that counts to anyone!

or if it was my body's means of protecting itself

Oh my goodness! That is just too funny! ha ha! That did sound like one painful show.

I will be in the Enchanted Tiki Room in 5 days.

I have NEVER been there before.

I am sooo mega excited!!!!!

I haven't seen the Tiki Room at WDW but if they ever changed the Tiki Room at DLR, i'd be devistated!:scared1:

I don't think there is anything wrong with the original attraction!

If they were to change it, I'd have to protest lol.

I'm a WDW "baby" so I remember when the WDW tiki room was good, i.e. the original show. I loved it back then, and I was so upset :sad2: when they changed it. I went one time and vowed I'd never go to that show again.

When we moved to San Diego a couple of years ago, one of the things I was looking forward to most on our first DL trip was seeing the original Tiki Room show. It was just like I remembered it. :cloud9: We've been to the show several times, and we can't get enough of it.

My husband and two sons (ages 17 and 19) experienced the original show for the first time at DL, and they agree that the original is infinitely better than the Under New Management show.

No surprise where my allegiance is. Anyway, gotta go. The Gods have been angered by all the celebrating.
