We recently canceled our trip when DH was hospitalized. It has been a long Minnesota winter and a cold spring and we were disappointed. DH is home and doing well but can't fly for a while and he said I should try to book a trip on my own!
Back when life was simpler I said "No more studios" and "No more summer trips." Never say never because I am thrilled to be going in June and staying in an SSR studio! Funny how the bumps along the road of life can change your expectations and priorities!
I am thrilled to be staying at SSR, though I am a BWV girl. Downtown Disney will give me lots of counter service options. I am just not that comfortable eating table service as a solo traveler.
I am taking Magical Express. We always have a car so we can take DH's scooter to MK without riding a bus, but this time I am only renting a car one day to go to church and maybe do some shopping at the outlets. I think ME will be perfect for me this time.
I segmented my reservation to do QSDP for the first night, just to try it out. We usually use TIW, not dining plans, but TIW isn't so useful this trip when I won't be doing much table service.
I am eating at Fulton's for the first time in many years and will finally be meeting in person one of my very, very favorite DISers! WOOHOO!
I have booked Keys to the Kingdom, which I have always wanted to do but we have worried that it might be too long a tour for DH. I am SO excited about this!
Please, please, let this trip happen!

A little pixie dust coming your way!!! :tink::tink: Hope everything works out for you and you have a great trip. Also a quick road to recovery for DH

:grouphug: Sure hope it goes well for you. DH and I are also at a point in our lives when health has begun to impact our plans. It's tough when it gets in the way of longterm WDW plans.

Enjoy your solo trip, sounds like you need it. Very excited for you!

Sounds like you've earned a break! Have a great trip.:earsboy:

pixiedust:Sending lots pixie dust your waypixiedust:

We tried QSDP last year and discovered Wolfgang Puck in the Marketplace as a new favorite CS for us.

Best wishes for your trip, Jean. And so glad to hear that your husband is doing better.

Be sure to take along your DVC member card. I'm pretty sure there is a 30% discount for lunch at Fultons when you show them the card. Have a wonderful trip!:cool1:

Enjoy your trip! The Keys to the Kingdom tour is great. I have done the tour twice. Hoping June is not too hot because I am heading down in 4 weeks! Splitting stay between OKW and PORR ....BWV is home but short on points so looking forward to enjoying the DTD area. Enjoy your stay at SSR.

Jean: I hope you get to go and have a great time! And I would encourage you to try some TS places by yourself--you might be pleasantly surprised! Bring a book or journal if you want something to do but I usually end up people watching or chatting with the CMs or the people at the tables next to me when I've gone solo!

My only downer is that I won't be there so I could meet you too!

Cheryl

Have a great time! I understand what you mean about June trips and studios. We have said we would never travel to WDW in the summer and now we have two trips planned in the same summer. Sometimes life dictates what one should do. Life and our school system.

:goodvibes

So sorry that your original plans didn't work out and that DH has been having a rough time. Hope he continues to recover well. But it's great that he's okay with your solo getaway. How exciting to have that to look forward to! Best wishes that it will all come together! pixiedust:

Here's hoping all the stars align in the proper order with a little pixie dust for extra luck and your trip goes as planned!

Do take your TiW card - it's good at SSR's Artist Palette as well as Turf Club. Fulton's is now also accepting TiW. DVC discount at Fulton's is 20%

If we hadn't just returned home (yesterday), I'd offer to go along and keep you company.

Sorry to hear of your husbands health concerns but good to know he's home and doing better.

Have a great time!

:wizard:hope you're able to enjoy yourself, sounds as though you certainly need a break.

Good Luck, sending you lots & lots of pixie dust!!:):thumbsup2

Jean - go and enjoy yourself. It's wonderful that your husband is encouraging you to go! Sometimes Fulton's and Wolfgang Pucks table service (not the walk-up) have had really good discounts. One time, WP was offering a 35% discount to DVC members for lunch. This was a couple of years ago, so it may not be so now. Never hurts to ask though. Hope your husband continues to improve and will soon join you again at WDW.

Wow! What a lot of good wishes! :goodvibes I am trying not to get too invested in this trip just so I don't set myself up for a huge letdown if things don't work out, but it surely is hard when there is so much to anticipate!
Thanks, Everyone!

Jean, here's hoping you get to keep this trip!!! You will LOVE the Keys to the Kingdom tour! I envy you! I'd love to be going along! In fact, I think I'll call my Bff and see if we can't plan a 'girls trip' in the future. Sounds like fun to me!

Adding my best wishes and pixiedust:to everyone's in the hope that the trip becomes a reality!

Bobbi:goodvibes

I would also like to send some pixie dust to you :pixiedust:. I hope and pray your DH will continue to improve and you have a WONDERFUL time in WDW
