Hey everybody....my sister Lorien is having surgery today. She has some tumors on her thyroid and is having the whole thing removed today. Please think about her today :lovestruc

Also, positive thoughts for it not being malignant! They will biopsy it after they remove it and I'm praying for it to be benign.

Thanks, you wonderful Dis people!!!!!

Praying for a good surgery and even better results.

She, and you, will be in my prayers. Please keep us updated!

Both of you are in my prayers.

Take care and keep us updated.

Good thoughts and prayers your and her way.

Thanks everyone!!! My sister is out of surgery and it seemed to go well except that they can't get her asthma under control so they are keeping a very watchful eye on her. She is sufficiantly medicated and loopy and maybe a little thankful that somebody is taking care of her for a change. She's a mom of 4 little ones.....she needed a hospital stay just to catch a break :lmao:

Her biopsy results should be in Friday. I'll be up there then, so hopefully I will be with her to hear the news.

Thanks again!!!! You all are the BEST!!!!

Ami- A friend of mine just had this same surgery yesterday - and probably for the same reason. She had a needle biopsy performed a few weeks ago & it came back negative for cancer. The tumors were growing quickly, so the Dr's decided to remove the tumors & the thyroid.

I'm praying that everything turns out well for Lorein. :thumbsup2

The prayers are on the burner, and you are all included. Hg all of those kids for us while you are there!

No problem. Your sister is in my prayers!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the prayers!!!! She's doing alright. It was kind of sketchy for awhile. The "asthma" didn't turn out to be asthma at all. My sister just learned that they put a tube down her throat that was too large for her airway and they damaged it in the process. Called a "strider" I think she said???? They pumped her full of Epinephrine and steroids and this morning she is breathing much better.

Geez, I wish I was up there with her already though. I could have jerked a friggin knot in some people. When I talked to her about 10 last night, she had been hitting the nurse call button for an hour and a half, needing more meds, not being able to breathe well~she sounded like an elderly woman who had spent the last 60 years smoking heavily! They unhooked the circulation things on her legs and forgot to hook them back up. The tech person kept telling her that he'd let the nurses know she needed them. When they came in 2 hours later they claimed to have never gotten the message!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All this in an observation room too!!! She had just been released from emergency recovery!!!!!! Sheesh, I was so mad!

How's your friend? Is she recovering well??? My sis thinks she can go back to paralegal school tomorrow :scared1:

Lorien also had the needle biopsy. Her results were "inconclusive".....WHAT??

They told her they could do another one, but either way they were going to need to remove her thyroid. She said she'd just wait for them to take it out to have the biopsy. Personally, I really don't have that kind of patience when it comes to my baby sister....but it wasn't my decision. Oh well, we'll know Friday...... We better know Friday!!!!

Ami, glad to hear the surgery went well. Sorry to hear that her post-op care has not been the best. She and her family and you and yours will definitely be in our prayers.
