How bad is the heat in Aug and the crowds? When is the best time to go? I wanted to go in Oct but I will be 7 months preg. now we are thinking of bumping it up. Thanks

Personally I would rather go in October at 7 months pregnant than in the HEAT of August at 5 months pregnant!! The heat in August is simply sweltering. Go in October - you will be much more comfortable.

It may depend on where you're from... We're from 'up north' and find the summer heat unbearable. Even late September would be better than August...

Very, very hot and rain most afternoons!

Well I have been to Disney both Oct. and Aug. Oct. is for sure the nicer weather. August was hot but not enough from keeping me from going back again at that time. Remember I was not pregnant. If you go in August, this is what we did. Got up early and got into the parks when they opened. Got FP for the rides we wanted and were able to get a lot done. By afternoon when it started to get to crowded, we left the park and went back to the hotel to eat, swim or just relax in the AC, got showered and ready for dinner and evening in the park. Good luck on which ever you choose.

I visited the last week in August in 2000. It was the week leading up to Labor Day weekend. It was hot, but not unbearably so. We used strategies to stay out of the heat as much as possible. We also brought water bottles along with us and re-filled them frequently.

The best thing about that week in August is that most southern school districts have already started school. Most New England communities go back after Labor Day. We found the crowds manageable. The lines were never more than 15-20 minutes long.

It's not my favorite time to go, but I'd choose it over a February or April school vacation week.

personally, I would go with the End of august. We went Sept 97 (beginning) and ended up with a heat wave (unusual they say.)
At 7 months (in October)...You could go early (A Disney baby wouldn't be all that bad... but its just too much extra weight to carry.)

May I suggest Early Sept.

Either way you will end up w/swollen feet.

Freeze water bottles and put them in those bottle cooler things to keep them as close to frozen as possible.
There's ALOT of water sprinkler type thingies for you to cool off in. Keep exta shorts & Undies w/you too.

Its less stress on your body and may end up being only 80s.
good luck

I sure wouldn't mess with the first week in August. I have a scale for the parks based loosely on Dante's Inferno. Last year I was in the MK and AK the first weekend of August, and due to the heat and crowd index I determined the MK approximated the 7th Circle of You Know Where.

AK made it to the 8th Circle.

According to Dante, You Know Where has 9 circles.

The end of August is still hot but it makes up for that by having few crowds. I like the heat but I don't like the heat/crowd combo. Last year, there was of course the added incentive of the 7 for 4 Night Fairytale Package, which added to the crowds.

I would def do October... 5 months pregnant, August, in THAT heat with THOSE crowds. No thanks.

October is beautiful... I highly recommend going then.

OK the reason why I am asking is because I looked up last years date and temps and it says that it was only high 80's and a few 91's . We went in May last year and was much worse! If we go it would be from Aug 19-28 are the parks open late? I was thinking go early morning come back for nap and back at night.

well, in summertime you get the heat in combination with the humidity.

August 19-28 ought to be better for crowds.

Add my vote to the October trip. I went last August and the Florida sun, rain, and large crowds kicked my you know what. Had a great time though!:sunny:

I was 6 months pregnant the first time we went and it was in the middle of August. The heat was HORRENDOUS (encouraging, I know) but I had fun anyway. It's really up to your personal preference. I couldn't ride much so I couldn't tell you how the lines were. The attraction I COULD ride, the lines weren't all that bad. As far as going WHEN you're pregnant, my only advice is take it SLOW and EASY :) Feet tend to swell during pregnancy anyway, but after the first day of rushing around my feet were swollen SO badly that my DH pushed me around in a wheelchair the second day. I just couldn't walk. (HEY! Free ride AND we got to go to the front of the line on a few things ;))

The heat is bad but the trip was so much fun that now all I can remember is the fun. That's my two cents! Hope this helps!

I have only been to Orlando in the summer months (I have to ~ I'm a teacher). Let me tell you, it is hot, hot, hot! The temperature was always in the 90's and the humidity was really bad. I went one time in July and 2 times in August and found that there were less crowds in August. I personally would rather go in October when the crowds are lighter and the temperature is a little cooler. Good luck with your decision!

We have been at both times. Would I prefer to go in Oct? Yes. But, with an older kid now, I don't want her to miss school anymore. So, off we went last August. Was it hot/humid/rainy? Oh yeah. But, no hotter or humid than we had left in NE!!! The rains were over the top, but I understand they were almost record breaking. The crowds were bigger than usual thanks to the FTP. The parks started closing a little earlier at the beginning of the third week. E-nights ended at the end of the third week.

If you aren't suffering with morning sickness, I would opt for the summer. Oct can still be pretty warm. It can be pretty uncomfortable 'wadddlin' around in the heat for long periods of time. Go to the parks early in the day. Drink a lot of water. Sit down for a brief rest every hour. Go back to your resort for lunch and a swim and a rest. Go back to the parks late afternoon for more touring or dinner. Most of all....relax and have a good time. WDW will be there for another visit with your little one. Don't try to do it all this one trip!!!

I have gone the last two Augusts and both times it was hotter in New jersey than it was in Florida. Both times I have come back to the weatherman saying that Jersey finally broke the heat wave.

The latter in Aug you go the cooler it is. Try for the end of Aug because the lines are much smaller except fot Labor Day weekend.

Good luck
