I have stayed in cat5 & 6, I was thinking I would save the $$$ and book a 10 or 11 Catagory. I just don't want my family to be REALLY disapointed. How disapointed could one be on the "Disney Cruise"? Please, any help/opinion would be very helpful.

I am staying in cat. 11 room with dh and 2 sons,(9&12) we camp alot and stay in a pop up so we will deal with it. We will not be in the room much and will have to rotate showers. I would love to have a verandah to sit out at night before bed and then to listen to the waves during the night, or catch the sunrise in the morning and have my morning coffee while the kids watch cartoons. The extra seating (2 chairs) would be nice with a verandah. But we can't. Too much money.

With a cat. 10 you will have the split bathroom. We were in a cat. 11 with three people and it was interesting. The bathroom reminded me of an airplane's bathroom but with a shower.

For my two cents—we always went for a 5 or 6 until our son came along, then we decided to go for a 9 so we could have the portal, but no actual access to the water with an infant/toddler. While we loved the veranda, we were really only out there short amounts of time each day. After we did, we realized that the cost difference made it almost the perfect balance between cost and pleasure as the rooms are the same size as above and actually seem to have more “useable” space as there isn’t a door. Ever since, we have booked in a 9 as we just see it as the “sweet spot” for our needs and expectations! For only $200 total more on the 7 day, it was well worth it to have the window vrs. the dark of an inside stateroom.

Hope this helps?

My wife and I love the Cat 9's on deck 2. You are close to all the action, as the majority of restraunts and theaters are on deck 3 and 4. We didn't ahve to wait for elevators. We just used the stairs. Plus, you are close for disembarkation. Make sure and check the noisy room list. We were in room 2566, and loved it. It was very near the elevators, but we didn't notice any noise from the hallway. We had terrific views, and would definately book that room again.

A verandah just isn't worth the extra money, IMHO.

AS Barb said I would try for one of the secret porthole rooms on deck5. They have an obstructed porthole but you get an inside rate. Cat8 room for Cat 10 price:p We had verandahs on both of our cruises but we chose one of the SPR for our 2004 cruise.

Our family of 4 has had a Cat. 6, 8, and 11. Although we didn't mind it being an inside cabin, the 11 was too small for a 7-day cruise -- not enough storage space for clothes. The 6 was a nice size, but it was sort of wasted on our first cruise, a 3-day; we were hardly in the room and didn't use the balcony. The 8 was the same size as the 6 minus the balcony. Instead, we had a large (probably 4-ft diameter) round window and plenty of space for clothing for a week, plus the split bathroom. Unfortunately, the 8's are all pretty far forward, and I could feel almost constant movement, so would probably look for a quiet 9 on Deck 2 for our next cruise.

I think it all depends on the age of your kids. Our DS was almost 5 on our first cruise. We knew he would need a nap, and he also needed to go to bed around 9:00. Since we expected to spend a fair amount of time in our cabin, it made sense to get a Cat 5 with a verandah.

We are sticking with a veranda (Cat 6 this time, costs $200 less for the same size room) for Jan '03. However, I think we will be re-evaluating that decision, as he becomes older and more independent. Once that happens, I don't expect we would spend nearly as much time in the room, so a porthole would be fine.
