Please hep me figure this out- points

Me again. Without boring you all with the specifics, I figure I will need 272 points total for my October 2010 trip. This is how I see it in my head and I can't figure out how it could work. My UY is Dec. I will use:

10 banked points from 2008
170 points (my total) from 2009
92 points from 2010

The plan is to book at the 11 month window which would be early 11/09 for the 10/2010 trip but I won't get 2010's points until 12/1/2010 (after the trip). Am I missing something? Can I even make the reservation?


ETA: Duh I will borrow the 92 points from 2011 but can I even make the reservation without access to 2011's points? I can't borrow from 2011 until 12/01/09, is that correct? Am I making any sense? I think I need a drink. I don't want to wait until December 1st to make the ressie if I don't have to.

Yes, you can make the reservation. You do NOT need to be inside your UY to MAKE the reservation with current points, you just need to be travelling within your current year to use that current years points for that vacation.

Once points are borrowed, they become a part of the current UY permanently. That should give you your answer.

Oops, so sorry, I totally misread your post. You can borrow the points into your 2009 year from 12/1/10 points, however being that you are travelling in the last month of your 09 UY, if you wind up cancelling, you have no time left to use the borrowed points, as they must be used by end of year borrowed INTO, being 09.

If you look at your account online, you should see December 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011. So you do have access to 2011 now.

Thanks everybody. When I look online it shows points available all the way into Dec 2011. I think I over-thought it and got myself all confused. DVC needs to have a warning label: my cause mind to shut down when in over planning mode.


Thanks also for the info on borrowing points and if we cancel. That is something to consider!

Thanks! I was talking about this trip with DH last night and he said: if we don't have 300 points by next year, I will be shocked.
