Please Help

One of my close friends hs a serious problem - she has somesort of eating dissorder, but she doesn't see, and nor do a lot of ppl. I have tried to help, but she tells me to listen to my own advise. What do I do?

I would call a hospital or clinic in your area that deals with eating disorders and ask them to send you any literature that they might have. You might look into whether there are groups available for support people/friends like there are for family/friends of alcoholics (like al-anon). I know how hard it is for you to watch a friend hurt herself. My friends and I went thru this in high school. we finally went to the nun we thought would help the most (catholic school) and she was able to get our friend the help she needed.

For some odd reason I have alot friends who have EDs. One of them landed herself in hosptile - I don't want my friend to go through that. I also leave to go to uni soon, so I can't be there to support her. She knows what it was like for me at school when I had to deal with it. She would kill me if I did anything like that to her.

I don't think there is much you can do. You have already told her how you feel about it and she has brushed you off. Is there a family member of hers you can talk to about this that will listen to you and that your friend will listen to ? She may need to be delared incompetent by a family member if she does not get help. My SIL has a eating disorder (anorexia) and will not listen to anyone. She has seen a Dr. but he is not helping her. She is 5'7" and only 85 Lbs. It is hard seeing her but nothing anyone says will make her stop. It is a mental illness. Her DH won't help as he says she won't listen to him either but we have told him he needs to have her declared incompetent so that she can get the help she needs but he won't do it. Very sad !
I hope your friend gets help before it is too late.

wow, that is sickly. She better get help before she is 5 feet under. I know just buy looking at magazines I see myself as fat, I am 5' 120 lbs. so I am not fat at all, maybe in my eyes I am in in others I am chunky. I hope your friend gets help fast before it is to late. That is so sad
