I posted a tread the other day say how bad my dd wants to go to wdw for christmas. she is 3 1/2 and we went to wdw for 10 days in October and all she can talk about is how bad she wants to go. We have a friend that never has to worry about money and he keeps egging her on about her christmas trip. My husband thinks it is impossible for us to go because of money. I think if we stayed at the all stars instead of the ploy. we could do it. How much do you think it cost for us to go. I don't think I would do in charcter meals we did 4 when we were there and she was not really impressed. I can book the all star using a code for $364 for 5 nights. I was just hoping I could pull it off and surprise them with this trip. I just can't see breaking her heart on christmas when we tell her we can't go, my dh said that she will just have to deal with it. please help

I rarely reply to these kinds of posts, b/c I figure the poster will do whatever (s)he wants to do anyway.

My feelings sbout what you posted--if you have a friend who eggs on your daughter about an upcoming trip, then that person is no friend.
If you don't have the money to go to WDW, don't go. It won't kill your kid if you stay home. What's going to happen when the "friend" gets a new car? Are you going to buy your (then)teenager a new car so her heart won't be broken?

Good luck to you with whatever you decide to do.

Let's assume a couple of things. You all want to go and aren't doing it just because this other person is teasing you about it. You can afford to do it - and by afford I mean you can take the trip without it causing you to carry a balance on your credit card or put off any more important financial responsibilities.

That said, I have a few suggestions. First, you said you could stay at the All Star for what works out to about $73/day. You can easily find a room offsite for half that, even Christmas week. Check HotelKingdom.com. Second, I don't know where you live but if driving down is an option, that would sharply reduce your travel expenses. Third, either find a hotel that includes breakfast or pick up some cereal, Pop-Tarts, etc. and eat breakfast in your room each day. Also pack PB+J or other easy to do lunch food to take into the parks with you. That goes for snack food too. You can store everything in a locker if you don't want to carry it around all day. The few dollars you pay for the locker is more than balanced in what you save not paying Disney's prices for food.

Good luck.
