We are a family of 4 traveling with just our passports ( my license has changed to my married name so TA booked me under maiden name) . What do we need to reboard the ship after we are in port? I dont feel comfortable getting off the ship with our passports due to fear of loss or theft. Any info will greatly help! Also should I bring kids birth certs along with passports??

If you aren't bringing any other picture ID you're gonna need those passports to reboard. You need picture ID and you KTTW to reboard at each port.

On our last cruise, Disney told us you have to have a valid picture id like a passport/drivers license and your key to the world card (room key). On our trip we used a passport id card and key to the world card. That way our regular passports could stay in the room.

Did your TA book you under your maiden name so you wouldn't have to get a new passport?
As PP said, if you don't have a driver's license, you will need a passport to reboard.
Your kids should not need their birth certificates if they have passports.
Kids under 18 do not need picture ID to reboard, just their Key to the World card.

I just spoke to a representative at DCL and she told me you don't need anything but your KTTW card to reboard. Disney actually recommends your passports stay in the cabin safe. She said they take your picture at boarding and that becomes your sign card as well as ID. I remember this is the way it was to reboard on Princess, but wasnt sure about Disney. The TA booked me under my maiden name because there wasnt enough time to get my name changed for a new passport and since this one hadnt expired she said it would be just fine.

Just to be on the safe side I would carry a certified copy of your marriage certificate (with the raised seal) I'm just paranoid like that. I actually had an issue once at airline check in because my ressie had my married name, but my DL hadn't been changed yet, thankfully I had the marriage cert. in the car( in the parking lot) only because I had taken it to the bank the day before to change my name on my checking acct. (but missed the DMV by 2 minutes) You can always just leave it in your safe and if you need it DH can hop on board to get it and run it down to you.
Maybe the CM will just issue your KTTW card with your married name, especially if you show them your marriage certificate.

That's all fine and dandy on the phone. However when I cruised in 2008, at EVERY port including CC I was asked for picture ID along with my KTTW. That was before the security photos started, but I don't really expect it to have changed. I will find out for certain in 3 weeks from now when I get off in St Maarten, but until then I'll just assume the old rules still apply.:thumbsup2

I agree with this. I don't know how many times I've read on the DIS that someone was told on the phone one thing and when they got on the ship it was entirely different. Better to be safe than sorry. Just ask the people who are checking you off the ship, what you will need to get back on. That way you can run back to your cabin if you need something you don't have.

From the bottom of the Navigator for everyday of our Alaskan Disney Wonder cruise:

"Security Notice: All Guests (including children) who wish to disembark or embark the ship are required to present their Key to the World card at the gangway. A photo ID is also required for those Guests who are 18 years of age or older. Guest under the age of 18 are required to have a Parent, Guardian or other responsible adult sign an authorization form at the time it is given out if they wish to go ashore unaccompanied. Authorization forms are available at the gangways and Guest Services."

As above, everyone needs a KTTW card. Adults need a government issued photo ID in addition to their KTTW card.

I cruised in 2009 and had serity pic but am almost postive I still had to sahow photo id to get butt back on boat.
