I am thinking of a Disney trip on the week of thanksgiving.(mon-fri). I can't decide on WDW or DLR. I could stay on-site and stay more days for the same or less money at DLR. My ? is this....Will the super sunday rates still be going on then? Or even if they are, would that week be blacked out due to the holiday? I can get a code rate at WDW, but if I could get the SSR at DLR, I would buy a PAP and go for it!!! I am pretty torn, I love Epcot, but DL is my fave, and I have never seen it at x-mas. I did see the HM makeover last year and LOVED it! Thanks for any info....I love these boards!

Unfortunately, I don't think that the Super Promo will still be happening, nor will the current code (Ending in early August).

We ususally do get a Winter Savings deal that comes out around labor day, but it is never a certain thing. (Either deal on Tix, or a hotel, or a package - it depends).

You may want to book a room at WDW (Through CRO of course) Then cancel if a good deal comes out at DL. :)

I wish I could be of more help, but unfortunately, DL discounts happen pretty close to use dates.

Sorry

made ressies using the codes that are out now ( for WDW) . I am just not sure which place to go....Fl or Ca.....I do have family in Ca., so that would be nice. And I really think that I would still save money at DLR over WDW, but I think I am a little worried that I will regret not seeing Epcot and MGM. I guess I will just have to do some more comparisons. If anyone has any opinions, I would love to hear them!!!!!Thanks!!!

Ok, now I'll really confuse you. I've never seen DL at Xmas, but have seen WDW. They go nuts, especially at Epcot and MGM. All the countries get into it, and MGM has the Osbourne(no relation to Ozzy ;) ) family lights, which they use to decorate the backlot houses and allow everyone to walk thru them, simply amazing. We even went around to all the resorts which also go all out on decorating. Now, hopefully someone who has seen DLR at xmas can give you their report! :D

do the x-mas decorations go up before thanksgiving? If we do WDW, we will probably have only 4 days in the parks...Mon.- Thurs. at DLR they have a special on tix 5 days for the price of 3, so we could afford more days there. I thought all the x-mas stuff at WDW didn't begin until the actual thanksgiving day, so I think we wouldn't have time to see much of it. Also, is the Osbourne lights a seperate charge? I could never convince DH to pay more $$ to see this as we have a SUPER light display in our hometown at one of the city parks. ;)

If you are going mainly to see a lot of decorations, you might be alittle disapointed.

We were in WDW during Thanksgiving last year (we were in WDW Mon-Saturday)...The holiday decorations weren't in full swing everywhere yet. We stayed at AKL and on the night before we checked out they were delivering all of the decorations (they were unloading tons of boxes from a truck)--the crew of people were just starting to decorate. When we checked into the Beach Club the next day, they already had a Christmas tree in the lobby fully decorated.

As for the parks, MGM had started the Osborne Lights--so there were Christmas decorations there. I really don't remember very much in the way of Christmas decorations anywhere else.

It would have been nice to see more of them--but we still had a great time that week! The weather was fine and the crowds were manageable too.

I went to DL once the day before Thanksgiving (a long time ago)--They hadn't started the Christmas parade yet and there were just the beginnings of Xmas decorations. Things may have changed since then. I have been to DL once all of the decorations were up (we went the day after Christmas for a few days)--it's really decorated--very magical!

Have fun deciding! Sounds like you are leaning towards wanting to go to WDW since you've never been at that time. If you can, try moving your dates to the week after--that way you will see all of the decorations.:D

Just read your last post...

There is no extra charge for the Osborne Lights
It was really pretty and instantly got me in the holiday spirit!

I haven't been to either during the holidays, so either will be great. I have read on other posts that at DLR the decorations go up the 1st week of Nov. and the parade starts on T-day. I thought that since we would have a 5 day pass (mon-fri). we could do all the rides, ect the 1st 3 days, then go in just for the parade and special holiday fireworks on the actual holiday and day after. I know DLR is not as big, but I love DL....much better than MK in my opinion! So, if the decorations ARE uop early, I think we might just go to DLR. I am still not sure, but I think at this point that is how I am leaning. If anyone has any info that will help.....it is VERY welcome!!!:)

Christmas is pretty much in full swing at DLR by mid - November. The christmas parade will be shown on Thanksgiving (if not before) and Luminaria will also play at DCA.

Even thought it is not scheduled, they also typically start showing "believe in holiday magic" a bit early to test out the snow machines, and make sure everything is in tip top shape before the "scheduled" showings. So even if it isn't listed, you may see it. Sometimes the "tests" show up on the map when you come in that day, and sometimes they just announce a "test" about 30 min. prior to it happening, but you can always check to make sure at City All or the Info stand.
