I am making green chile in the crock pot. I chopped up peppers (anamheim, jalepeno and habenero) and put them in and now it is SPICY hot. How do I cut the spice a bit? TIA:goodvibes

I'm sorry.. I have no idea how to cut the heat after you've already added the peppers... but most of the heat is in the ribs and seeds of peppers.. so next time, if you remove the ribs and seeds before adding them to the dish, you can control the heat.

Sorry!

The only thing I can think of for you to do is to remove some of the chile mixture and add more of everything else. Perhaps you can freeze what you remove and use it as a base for making this recipe again in the future?

Sorry you have to deal with this -- it's so frustrating to go through all that work and not have it turn out well.

It reminds me of a time that my husband was following a Bon Appetit recipe for a scallops dish; he was trying to surprise me with it for Mother's Day... He is often of the school that "if a little is good, a lot is awesome". ;) He added considerably more dried red peppers than the recipe called for, thinking that it would just add a little extra "zing" to the dish. The presentation was fantastic -- looked exactly like the Bon Appetit cover. However, my first taste told the whole story. :scared: I think we ended up ordering out that night?? :rotfl: I felt so bad, though, since he had worked so hard...

Let us know if you're able to save your recipe... It sounds really good!!

This could be completely wrong...

but something is dinging in my head about adding chunked, raw potatoes to it, and allowing them to cook...then remove the cooked potatoes.

Or is that to cut salt...???

Again, could be completely wrong.:)

I think I'd just add more ingredients, and freeze it:teeth:

Good luck!!

:sunny:
