The only thing I can think of for you to do is to remove some of the chile mixture and add more of everything else. Perhaps you can freeze what you remove and use it as a base for making this recipe again in the future?
Sorry you have to deal with this -- it's so frustrating to go through all that work and not have it turn out well.
It reminds me of a time that my husband was following a Bon Appetit recipe for a scallops dish; he was trying to surprise me with it for Mother's Day... He is often of the school that "if a little is good, a lot is awesome".

He added considerably more dried red peppers than the recipe called for, thinking that it would just add a little extra "zing" to the dish. The presentation was fantastic -- looked exactly like the Bon Appetit cover. However, my first taste told the whole story.

I think we ended up ordering out that night??

I felt so bad, though, since he had worked so hard...
