Hello All

I am currently five months pregnant and planning a trip to DW in December. Our FIRST baby will be five months old when we are at DW. My husband is 6'6" and I am 6' tall. Any advice on baby carriers that would be comfortable for both of us.

Thanks

I love baby slings instead of a carrier like a Baby Bjorn style carrier. They take a little getting used to but you can carry a MUCH heavier baby in them. I maxed out on a Baby Bjorn at about 15 lbs. (3 mo. ish), but with my sling I carried my boys until at least 12 mo. If you get a a black or navy one you DH will be able to wear it too. (My DH insists that I don't emasculate him by making him wear lavendar floral prints. Go figure.)

I have three little ones and at 5 months they all LOVED to be in a front pack! I took my middle daughter to Disney at that age and she lived in it while at the parks! I agree go with a blue or black my hubby appreciated not having to wear the pink one i wanted:rotfl: Hope you have a wonderful pregnancy and birth!

I agree that a sling will be the most comfortable and convenient, and should be adaptable to height for both of you. I'm 5'8" and my husband is 6'6", and we used a sling with no problem.

Here are just a few recommendations and links (it's not letting me post the links whole, so I adjusted them, just put them into your address or search bar the way they're supposed to be) I pulled off of a parenting site I belong to (and if the website isn't listed, just google the name, you should be able to find it):

"one thing about Peanut Shell: the size is important so do some measurements and check out the sizing info on the site. they are good about returning phone calls too."

"I'd look into getting a Moby wrap, a sling or an ergo. You can also check out thebabywearer (dot) com for info about baby carriers. We had the Bjorn but I couldn't carry DD in it past 15lbs, as it killed my shoulders. She's now 22 1/2 lbs and I still carry her in her hotsling. So, I think that sounds like a good price, but I would never buy a Bjorn again."

"Kangaroo Korner Adjustable Fleece Pouch kangarookorner.com"

I'll post some links for you!!! I had a couple Peanut shell slings ( i started out with Microfleece , so nicce and confy for you and baby) when my girls were newborn, i lOVED them...then i moved on to Mei Tei's and now i have a Beco too..lol. Peanut shell http://goo-ga.com/
http://babyhawk.com/ , http://ecobabies.com/ (Beco) these are just a few, there are TONS of great carriers out there, with a little bt of research you will find your perfect carrier for you and DH (or 2 or 3..lol) Also a GREAT site to check out http://thebabywearer.com/ there is a ton of info on any type of carrier and the ladies on there are wonderful and SO helpful!!!
Just wanted to say that my baby is 15 months and about 26 pounds and i still wear her all the time!!! A lot of these carriers can be used up to 40 pounds...

Thank you to all who answered. There are so many products out there it is really difficult to decide but this has really helped.

My baby never liked to be confined, never liked to be swadled, still won't sleep with any kind of blanket or pillow, and she hated the sling! All babies are different. Mine liked the Bjorn since she was free to move her limbs. I couldn't have lived without it. The quality is so much better than other front type carriers. And you can actually get great prices on eBay. There are some Bjorns out there with the extra long straps - we had one because my ex-husband is 6'4" but since he is so skinny the regular Bjorn would have been fine.

By the way, I just got my new 2007 Maclaren Volo stroller today. My old Volo is an '04 or '05. The new one has much taller handles (the old version was pretty tall to begin with) - perfect for tall people! You'll be needing a double stroller obviously but when you are in the market for an umbrella, keep the Volo in mind.

When my daughter was young, I had a snugli and a sling. They both killed my back. Then, much later (when she was 2) we went on a cruise and I bought a mei tai carrier for when she was tired of walking. It was awesome!!! No stiff back and super comfy for her. Can be worn on the front or back and can be used for a LONG time. Check them out here: www.babyhawk.com

I HIGHLY recommend them! I think they will fit you, but you can always send them an email and they respond right away. Good luck!

Our baby liked the Baby Bjorn.

There are so many choices out there. Good luck!
