I have heard the name windsor hills on here in the past so decided to check out the site for our vacation in November. 4 adults and 2 children. We want 3 bedrooms close to clubhouse and pool. I gave my info on the site and got a MILLION emails from different people trying to get me to rent their condos or townhouses. How do I choose? How do I know which are good and which aren't and where they are located. Is this a huge resort that different people own rooms in? Is this a whole town? Excuse me for my ignorance we just have never stayed in anything but a hotel in our life. HELP IS NEEDED! And are these prices for real? I'm seeing $700 for a whole week! is that per person or for everyone? Im used to staying on site and the prices are even cheaper than values. Are they better than the value resorts?

Windows Hills is a gated community. It is not a hotel.

You are either renting condos, townhomes or homes directly from the owner.

Complementing:

There are several gated communities near Disney. Some are newer than others. Windsor Hills is not one of the newest communities. If you want a newer community take a look at Paradise Palms

The prices your are seeing is for the whole rental unit. But check if sales tax are included as well as other fees (such as cleaning fee).

Housekeeping is not usually included (it is not a hotel).

I like homes better as they are more private than a hotel room. Moreover, it is a whole home just for your family, not just a bedroom.

Staying in 4BR house in November. Stayed in townhome in 2008. Here's what I wrote then:

Having stayed at on property at moderate resorts on previous trips, was apprehensive about staying off property on this trip. But with wife, 2 kids, and in-laws on this trip, and the cost and features of 2 moderate rooms or 1 suite, we decided to try a 3 BR townhouse at Windsor Hills.

After a week, I am convinced I'll never stay on property again.

Price...I added the cost of a rental van, gas, parking and luggage tips and am still $100s less than 2 moderate resort rooms, and over $1,000 less than cheapest Disney suite...Bought tickets through Undercover Tourist and saved even more...

Security and Convenience - Gated community, 24 hour uniformed security, park van 4 feet from front door so no waiting/walking for bus...restaurants and stores less than 3 minutes away...8 minutes from door to parking spot at AK, 15 -20 at other parks...and at end of day with 2 kids asleep, no parking lot treks to room...

Dining - name any restaurant and it is within 10 minutes...and plenty of local joints to explore...after a day at the park, no eating same food in food court...and a benefit I had not anticipated is cost savings...

Accomodations - full townhome apartment - Ours was beautifully decorated...living room, dining room, 3 ensuite bedrooms with DVD/HD satellite TV in each, professionally decorated Mickey room for the kids and their TV includes a PS II system, ceiling fans throughout, full laundry, full kitchen with all utensils/appliances, private splash pool...no comparison to 314 sf boxes on property...imagine staying up late/getting up early to watch news without worrying about waking sleeping kids, or having a room for child to 'unplug' and go watch a video...we actually caught our son reading!

The resort also has a full size pool with water slide (kids must be 48"), fountains, pool tables and game room, workout room, theater (didn't use), playgrounds...

Today, after Toy Story broke down 45 minutes into our wait, our 6 year old took it in stride and said, "Let's go swimming!"

I am sure there are some lemons in this resort, but I can vouch for ours...I am a true believer...

Try Floridasunvacationshomes.com that who is we used and found a 3 bedroom that was 75 yards from the pool/clubhouse (as they advertised). PM if you need further details.

Thank you! I will definitely be looking into these. daytondisney- what was the name of the company you used and how far were you away from the pool area?

Last year we stayed on site in a deluxe and for just 3 of us it cost $5000 and that was with free dining! I can't believe how much money you can save staying off site.

Think: Subdivision. Windsor Hills is a subdivision made up of condo buildings, townhouse buildings and individual pool homes. The condos and townhouses are near the clubhouse/community pool area. All of these would be within a 5 min. walk. Each condo, townhouse and pool home is individually owned so how they're decorated/furnished varies from owner to owner. Prices are for the whole home per night (not per person). Each home is licensed for a maximum number of people and you're not allowed to squeeze more in than that. Usually it's 2 per bedroom and 2 on a sofabed if they have one.
Lots of room and privacy for an amazing price but remember there's no daily maid service or room service. You live like you would at home. :)

I used www.mickeysworld.net, and Dina was very responsive. She owns 2 units, and I think ours was #2.

If you look at the subdivision map http://www.mickeysworld.net/resources/map1.jpg, the townhomes are just south of (and across the street from) the pool. Dina's unit # 2 is in the first building (#15), so the walk was 30 seconds. You also have a private splash pool on the lanai, with no rear neighbors.

we have rented through vacationcentralflorida.com and http://www.mickeyscondo.com/safari/ Also check out homeaway.com http://www.homeaway.com/search/keywords:Windsor+Hills,+Florida

We like WH but like Indian Creek better and have stayed here 3X as we like having our own pool and gameroom! It's 3/4mile from WH.

Crestwynd Bay is also nice but has a smaller community pool but is is right next door to WH and is cheaper. http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rentals/florida/crestwynd-bay/r16929

Check out this map for the locations of all the communties
