Ahead of time definitely. Back when I used a TA they would make the request too. Still didn't always get connecting.

Thanks so much, I was just wondering... We are planning a family weekend next year, and I will need connecting rooms - or we might look at renting a DVC, it's in July so I can't even imagine what the $$$$ will be on that...

You might look into the Doubletree at Disney Springs. It gets the EMH and book fast pass at 60 days. All rooms are suites. Pricing is good and you get the above perks. We are a family of 6 and staying AOA in August. We did connecting rooms at Pop September and it was okay. Wanted better pool and a suite this time to feel more family oriented
